  • Easy to learn, but read the manual!
Style: DMK 25 Pro Black Color: Black
While there are a lot of functions hidden away behind these buttons, this lightweight and compact keyboard has made composing digital music really, really easy. I'm a total amateur; I haven't been able to figure out all of the functions, and maybe they're just not useful in the software I'm using, but there are a lot of possibilities in this little thing. Glad to have it as a nice little starter model. ... show more

  • No TRS MIDI Out functionality any longer
Style: DMK 25 Pro Black Color: Black
One of the key features I was looking for in a compact MIDI controller was a standard DIN or TRS MIDI OUT connector for controlling stand-alone gear (such as hardware synthesizers and sound modules), without needing to be always tethered to a PC, or boot up the PC to play something. I bought the DMK25 Pro based on some reviews and forum discussions which mentioned it had this functionality, and one of the reviews even displayed pictures of a MIDI OUT TRS port in the back. To my surprise, it seems this functionality has been removed in later production runs and replaced with a useless (to me) SUSTAIN pedal connector (similar 3.5mm jack in the exact same place where the TRS MIDI OUT connector used to be). Maybe it would be good to very clearly mention in the product description that the product features have changed since its initial introduction to the market, and some early DMK25 Pros out there have a TRS-style MIDI OUT port and the ones currently sold sadly no longer do. Edit: Donner’s customer service team has contacted me and proactively offered a partial refund, without me even asking for one, so I cannot complain in this regard. I am upping the star rating for A+ customer service. ... show more

  • The product is good
Style: DMK 25 Pro Black Color: Black
This works very well i wouldn't recommend for beginners because it does require scripting knowledge to use it in Fl studio if thats what you use it is usable in soundtrap and its nice, if using reaper its quite easy to setup.

  • Scale mode is flawed - Update
Style: DMK 25 Pro Black Color: Black
I wanted to like this mini controller but unfortunately, their advertising makes it sound better than reality. The "intelligent dynamic scale" mode isn't very intelligent. You have to choose your scale from the preprogrammed scales but you cannot set the root of the scale - they are only in key of C. Furthermore, all the keys remain active, however if you play legato (playing a second key before releasing the first key) in anything other than chromatic scale there are problems because when you release the first key, it cuts off the second key. They are just having the keys send the same midi note so a note off therefore stops the second note. In some cases, three consecutive keys all trigger the same note. This makes playing anything legato impossible. You cannot modify the pre-programmed scales nor can you choose to have some keys not send "midi note on" at all. The chord mode is also a joke. You have to follow a cumbersome procedure to make a chord interval that will then sound the same interval on every note. It will not keep the chords in the chosen scale. If you do have a scale selected other than chromatic, you will get chords that could be far off from your chosen interval. There is only one chord interval defined at any given time. Rather unpredictable. I'm not impressed with the arpeggio mode which is also pretty limited. The up/down repeats the upper and lower note so your up/down arps are off from sweeping up and down because there is a stutter at either end. The pads also participate in the note repeat functions so for example you cannot use them independently for repeating pad notes while playing the keys normally I've written to tech support and that was another source of frustration. Of note, the pads do have the advertised aftertouch (channel, not poly) but the keys do not have any aftertouch. Also, an undocumented "feature" is that the USB provides TWO virtual ports. If your DAW is receiving midi from all sources, you will actually get upper register notes when pressing the transport buttons. Took me a while to figure that one out. You need to stop receiving data from Donner port two. It's a shame, this could have been so much better but sloppy programming from designers that do not understand music is holding it back. Update: I have been in contact with Donner and their technical staff have agreed that the scale mode could be improved. They said they will work on an update to address this and hopefully add a new mode. I don't have any additional details. If this happens, I will update again. ... show more

  • Sad
Style: DMK 25 Pro Black Color: Black
All of the information about this device was written for audio professionals. That can easily recognize that the unit does not work with 1/4 input plug from the sustain pedal which comes up to match the unit,s 1/16 sustain input!

It’s a whole video that shows you how to redeem your software. I almost didn’t purchase based on previous reviews but I am glad I did. Great midi + free software = happy budget producer :)
