  • Incredible piano - and not just for beginners!
Size: Compact Color: Retro Wood
After a recent move, I was looking for a new digital piano. I'm an intermediate/advanced player. Previously, I had a $900 Privia and was overall very satisfied with that, and was skeptical about this one because it is so much more affordable. I have to say, I like the Donner DDP-80 even more, for hundreds less than the Privia. PROS: - Weighted keys feel better than any other keyboard I've ever played - they have that heft/weight to them that most digital pianos lack. - Sound quality - it's just a beautiful sounding instrument. I usually play with headphones, but the times I've played out loud with the built in speakers, it has also sounded great. You get that "feel it in your chest" effect that usually only happens on the real thing. - Dynamics - holy moly, it really is like playing an acoustic piano - it is extremely responsive to touch and feels very natural. You can play very expressively. Also, the included 3-pedal works great (some older reviews mention the pedal didn't work upon arrival but they have since fixed whatever the issue was). - Easy to assemble - truly you just have to screw the legs on and tighten the music stand. Much easier than my last keyboard which had a bulky wooden console that took a long time to put together. Note that the legs are metal covered to look like wood grain - these are very sturdy legs. The piano doesn't move around at all when playing. - Aesthetics - not the most important thing by any means, but you have to admit it's just beautiful. It is exactly as pictured. CONS: - No bells & whistles - just one piano tone, no settings to fiddle with other than volume. I thought I might miss these features but I don't. If you just want to play piano, this is it. - No dust cover for the keys. Easy to fix with a scarf. Overall I'm just thrilled with this instrument! I was a little scared to buy from this company since they are newer and seem to exclusively sell online, but this particular model was a great purchase. And truly this isn't just for beginners - I think a piano player at any level would be impressed with the quality of this instrument. ... show more

  • Company stands by their product-refreshing!

I have been wanting a piano for a while, but had limited space and funds. This lovely little piano takes up only the the room it needs, without sacrificing that full keyboard feel. It is as close to an acoustic sound and responsiveness as I have found in a digital piano. For me, a recreational player, I love that it is relatively light weight (especially compared to an acoustic!) and that I can move it myself, enjoying playing and not worry about it going out of tune. The appearance is lovely, and fits in well with the room and furniture. It was easy to put together myself. I love that it doesn't have all the 'bells and whistles' of other digital pianos, because I really just wanted a Piano and that is what this is-A Piano. It just happens to be electric instead of acoustic. Perfect for my needs! I am delighted with the piano-Even more so with the Customer Service at Donnor. The piano I received, unfortunately came with a faulty pedal ( The middle pedal didnt work, the other two did) I immediately contacted Donnor Customer service through the link provided by Amazon -but you can also contact them directly from their website as well. ( I did NOT turn to Amazon returns-they are growing ever more frustrating to deal with). A representative at Donnor answered me back within a few days. The initial response took a bit longer than I was led to believe but once I was in contact they were great! I explained the issue and they -without hesitation or questions-, shipped me a new pedal system right away. It arrived well within the expected time and it worked right out of the box. I give the Five stars because the piano is exactly what I wanted And they stand by their product. They actually seem to care about their customers-a rarity in this world. I would recommend this piano to anyone looking for a sturdy, playable, and pretty piano. ... show more

  • One Year Later
Size: Compact Color: Retro Wood
I picked this up on Black Friday a year ago now. This is honestly the best affordable digital piano I’ve played, and I’ve played a few. Is it going to have the sound quality of a Yahama, Casio, Roland, or Korg? No. But it’s surprisingly close. The stock pedals died on me (though that may have been due to moving, and not the brand. Caveat emptor though). It was easy to replace with a third party pedal set, and otherwise, I’ve had zero problems with it (more than I can say for my old Yamaha). You’re not getting a premium finish for what you’re paying, but at the price point, it’s incredibly solid. It doesn’t have that cheap Chinese/Korean MDF feel to it. My single gripe is common to the price point. The keys are plastic. *Good* plastic. But still plastic. I prefer my keys to have more weight to them, if I have my preferences. The keys are nicely weighted (but won’t fool you into thinking they’re true piano keys), responsive, switches are heavy duty and idiot-proof. Plenty loud for playing at home, or you can use headphones or amp. I’ve run it through both, and the fidelity is truly Yamaha quality. I’m aware of no other $500-600 keyboard that doesn’t have quality loss through output. It is a piano. No synth or fiddly midi sounds. You can’t beat this for a first “real” digital piano or (like me) a very lovely midcentury style daily beater piano. If I could give 6 stars, I would. A year later, and I’m still in love. ... show more
