The DonJoy Lateral J Patella Knee Brace is equipped with a tubular, lateral "J" buttress that runs alongside the knee. This knee brace can be worn for day-to-day activities and while playing sports; both in and out of the water. Intended for those suffering from lateral patellofemoral knee pain related to the following: lateral patellar subluxation and dislocations, lateral patellofemoral malalignment, patellofemoral maltracking and pain, and chondromalacia. It's designed to provide you with multiple treatment options to best suit your needs. Choose the knee brace material between Drytex and neoprene; and with or without hinges. Drytex allows for improved airflow while still giving ample support and compression. It's preferred by those in warm weather climates and individuals with neoprene allergies or irritations. Neoprene is a thicker, wetsuit-like material. It provides plenty of support and compression, and delivers a warmer option. I got this with a warehouse deal for much less than the list price otherwise this would have been 2 stars. This does a very good job of holding my knee cap in place. But, this device is really flimsy and I do not think it will stand up to many uses. After five uses, the stitching around the Velcro is starting to come undone. The Velcro straps hold very very strong. Once it is in place, it is difficult to peel apart. I did measure my leg and purchased the size accordingly. It fits snug and properly. I have a M#*avid brand brace which is much more durable and provides almost the same knee cap support. Update 6/26/16-. Updated from 3 stars to 5. The brace is still going strong despite the early indicators otherwise. This is now my go to brace. I do training daily and yoga a few times a week and this keeps my knee cap in place perfectly. I have a couple of solid months of abuse on this thing and it looks pretty good after I trimmed the initial fraying off. I will be buying another one of these when this one wears out. ... show more

At first, I found this brace to be tight, however it does loosen up eventually and is exactly what I needed to help support the sides of my knee(meniscus area,) and the later J is helpful for the tracking of my patella. Overall, very impressed with this brace for the price. If I was to order a brace from the MD, it would have been a couple hundred dollars more...Thank you Don Joy :) ... show more

I have used this brand of knee braces for years. The brace usually lasts me a full year, and that is quite a long time. I love being active, so I wear it at least once a week to play sports. I gave it a lower rating because this last one I got started tearing at the sticks within two months of me getting the brace. Where the tear is happening is a usual place for it normally wears out at, it just sucks that it didn't last longer. ... show more

I ordered on Monday afternoon, and was taking it to her at school Thursday morning. This brace has helped to keep her knee cap in place while giving her the stability she needs. Ordered the small size based on the measurements suggested in the description (measured all leg parts twice) and confirmed I was a small size. Product arrived and didn't come close to fitting (couldn't even get it up over my knee/patella). Went to return it and discovered it's non-returnable. C'mon Donjoy/Amazon, this was an $80.00 waste of time and money. Please accept returns on items that do not match the sizing specs of a non-returnable order. Disappointed/frustrated. ... show more
