I have a lot of tropical plants that have to come in for the winter, I also had a new deck built this spring. The roof over the deck blocks most of the sunlight from the primary window/room where I keep the plants. I purchased a new light fixture for the room and am using the grow light bulbs to supplement the light for the plants. So far they seem to work well and the bulbs don't get hot like traditional grow bulbs so I can leave them on longer. It's only been a week so hard to say how they'll work for the long haul. The timer feature is really nifty - allows you to set it and forget it, mimicking daylight hours for the setting you select (6, 10, 12 hours per day) I loved it while it lasted!! Sadly, it only worked 1 month before burning out. Your mileage may (hopefully?) vary.
