  • Worth the investment
Size: Proteus DX5i
This robotic pool cleaner is a game changer! It scrubs the floor, walls, and waterline with ease. The Wi-Fi app control is super convenient for scheduling cleanings remotely. It’s lightweight, easy to clean, and perfect for pools up to 50 ft. The only downside is occasional Wi-Fi connection drops, but overall, it does an excellent job keeping the pool spotless. ... show more

  • So far, so good!
Size: Proteus DX5i
Although I still have yet to read the manual for this cleaner, it's doing a wonderful job. I opened the box and lowered the unit in and turned it on. About 90 mins later the bottom of my pool was clear of leaves, etc. When I emptied the holding bin, it was quite full with leaves as well as sand (paver deck) so I ran it again for 2nd cycle. A few more leaves had fallen and got picked up along with more sand. So it'll take a few cycles but it will pick up everything in the pool. Boom. That's time and money! My only wish, and sort of expected it, is that this unit won't clean a sun shelf (6"~9"). Soon as it crawls the wall and its nose pops out above the water it thinks it's on the edge and won't push itself over onto the shelf. Other than that, it seems like a great machine. Very happy with it. ... show more

  • Poor quality. Worse customer "service"
Size: Proteus DX5i
Do not waste your money on this company. I bought one in June 2023. By fall 2024 it was not working. I bought this upgraded model November 16, 2024. The cord has withered away to nothing and it no longer communicates with WiFi. Tech support says I have to pack the entire thing up and ship it back and within 3 weeks they will "Take a look at it." No thanks. Time to switch to a different brand that has better quality and better customer service. ... show more

  • Nice robotic cleaner for swimming pools
Size: Proteus DX5i
So far this pool cleaner works for me. Nice connection through Wi-Fi Unfortunately it sold without fine filters. But no biggy, I purchased filters on Amazon. Also there is no option for water line scrabbing cycle only. This option is included with regular 2 hours cycle that cleans water line randomly. Cable for some reason some time tangled, that never happen on my old Dolphin Nautilus. Cleaning quality just OK. I have to run 3 two hours cycle to get pool cleaned. The pool 26,000 gallons kidney shape ... show more

  • Works great, customer service is great too
Size: Proteus DX5i
I have owned this pool vacuum since 2021. It was recommended to me by my pool guy/neighbor. I have kept care of it, emptying and cleaning the tracks out myself. And it works wonderful! That is really difficult in my pool because not only do we have a lot of dirt and plants blowing in (pepper trees with tiny leaves) but we also have ducks using our pool twice a year flying south and north (truly not our idea). Customer Service is also great. I recently was having problems (first time in 4 years) and requested service instructions. They responded within 24 hours with suggestions to fix and with full instructions to mail off unit. I did not have to mail it because their suggestions worked and the vacuum is happily cleaning again. ... show more

  • Brand new, and didn't work at all!! (But was fixable.)
Size: Proteus DX5i
This is my second Dolphin pool cleaner. This one was a DX5i model (bought 6/7/2025). The previous one was a Dolphin Quantum (bought 5/17/2020). I didn't really have any problems with the quantum. I had it 5 years and it worked fine every year. The cord had started to breakdown and was leaving little bits of rubber on everything, and the swivel to keep the cord from tangling was starting to not work so well, so I ordered a replacement cord. I'm pretty handy fixing things so I swapped the cord and put it to bed for the winter. This year when tossed it in the pool it ran for about 12 feet then stopped. I pulled it apart and found that I didn't get one of the seals installed correctly and the motor enclosure was full of water. There is a small circuit board in there that got fried when the water hit it, so it was toast. Time for a new one guess. After a lot of online research, it seemed that all the pool cleaners on the market have their share of negative reviews. I finally decided that I had pretty good luck with the quantum, so I would stick with it. I tried ordering another Quantum from a couple places, but no one actually had one in stock. I decided to get the newer version which is the DX5i (as best I can tell). The new one arrived and it did seem to use most of the same parts (so at least I would have some spare parts). I set up the app on my phone, tossed it in the pool and set it off. But it didn't move. I tried several times, changing the cleaning mode, inspecting the impeller for obstructions. Everything had the same result the app would report that it was running but the Dolphin just sat on the bottom of the pool. Finally, I pulled it out of the pool, power cycled it and tried to get it to do something at the side of the pool. I heard the drive motor spin and it clicked a like the drive gear was skipping for about 5 seconds, then nothing. With my old Dolphin, when you first started it, it would move forward a little, then back a little, then the impeller would shoot some water out of the top jet then it would run off and go to work. With the DX5i, I only got a little clicking out of the drive motor, no motion, and the impeller never moved. After about 2 minutes, the controller would go to solid red, and the app would report that the cleaning was done, after 1 minute. No error message, no complaints, no nothing. It just stopped. The new DX5i arrived looking as though it was new. It could have been some kind of factory refurb, but it was sold as new, and didn't give me any reason to believe it was not new. But I can't believe it left the factory like this. For a $1300 appliance, I expected some basic quality control. I might try to buy a replacement board for my old unit and see if I can get it working again. If that doesn't work,... Ugh. I don't know. Update: After boxing it back up, my wife insisted that I call their help number to troubleshoot it. Convinced it was a waste of time to listen to a robot or a person dumber than a robot read from a required script, I pulled it back out and removed the motor case. Then I powered it on again. This time the motor drive spun as before, BUT then the impeller spun too! I reinstalled the sealed motor case. If you are interested, two screws hold down the impeller cover, and two more screws hold the motor case in place, so not much to disassemble/reassemble on these. I made sure to get the drive motor spur gear engaged with the main drive wheel on the left side. Once it was all back together I powered it up on the dinning room floor and, it worked! It’s been in the pool for about an hour now and seems to be working fine. If you buy one of these and have a similar problem, you might try pulling the motor case out and reseating it. When the gear is properly aligned on the drive wheel, the two screw holes that hold the motor case in place will both be perfectly centered over the holes the screws go into. If the screw holes aren’t centered exactly!, turn the tracks/wheels a little by hand until the screw holes are perfectly aligned. Then reinstall the 2 screws that hold the motor case in place and reinstall the impeller cover. It sucks that Dolphin is shipping units that are as easy to mis-assemble as this, and that they apparently don’t train their employees better. I really think it is not appropriate for them to ship an item this expensive without bench testing it before it ships. If you buy one of these, and have a similar problem, you might just try doing what I did. It’s less hassle than the return would have been. BTW, I uninstalled the app on my phone and have not reinstalled it. I just use it like I did the old Quantum. I might reinstall the app, but it could have been a problem with the app communication. Since it didn’t move and only clicked before though, I’m sure it was a motor mis-alignment. ... show more
