I never realized how heavy on my dog's neck her current collar is. The pictures show the two together and this one alone. It's a lightweight but strong nylon in black reinforced with reflective threads. While it doesn't show in the photos, the reflection is subtle under low light and more intense in the serious darkness. If a headlight or flashlight were to shine on it the visibility is there. It's perfect for my black lab, she is often taken out at night in an urban area and this collar will help people see her because she is difficult to see in the dark. I'm going to use this as an everyday collar and save her trail collar for exactly that, when we hit the trail. I recommend this for an everyday, all day, dog collar as it is light enough to be comfortable. I also subscribe to not putting a collar on too tightly, which is why she could wear it all day. For her breed it is perfect, (Labrador Retriever), for others it might not be if it has to be on the tight side to stay put. I say that only because my son's bernedoodle easily slips out of her collars. She's always free from any collar or in a harness instead. With the Lab we can use either or. So if your dog needs a collar on tight, I would just use it when needed. Not everyday, all day, in that case. Due to its lightweight nature, I don't know how strong it would be if your dog seriously pulls. Mine is 2 years old - those days are mostly over, maybe not when a squirrel is around. Owners of larger breeds know these 60-70 lb + dogs have the potential to pull pretty hard and make accommodations accordingly. That being said, I think the material itself is strong, the lightweight nature just gives me pause. Very different, however, from her existing silicone collar which is a factor in my opinion. All in all, my dog is obedient and I think this collar is perfectly acceptable material including the metal fastenings.

Love the reflective strip and the ease of adjustment - and the price is tough to beat. And for my dog, a 50 lb, not very Miniature Aussie, it's adequate, but only because he is very well leash-trained and does not stress collars or leashes. For a dog that pulls on his leash or tends to be a little out of control or engages their "Look a squirrel!" mode suddenly, the buckle and clasps on this collar might fail, because they are pretty lightweight. I'd be leery of this collar for a disobedient dog or one that might be exposed to marginal situations - then again, if you use a heavier or Martingale collar or something when on leash, this is a perfectly good everyday collar for carrying their tags, etc. and are safe to wear full time, unlike certain other collars designed for leash-only use. (Martingale or other choke-chain type collars should NEVER be left on your dog if they are unattended - impossible as it seems, dogs find ways to choke themselves to death on those even when they seem very safe or have been wearing them for years. I almost found out the hard way, but, thank God, he managed to break free. Please, just don't! Learn from my and my buddy's close call!)

The media could not be loaded. I ordered the small size for my pug (she has a 13-14" neck) and it fit her perfectly. It is a bit thinner than other collars, but for my pug I only use the collar to hold identification and sometimes just as an accessory, I only walk her with a harness, so I don't mind it. It's worth nothing that even though some types of webbing are thinner they can still have a pretty high strength; I would be curious to know the actual specs on the webbing used for this collar. I doubt it would break before the plastic clip did. Speaking of hardware, the buckle, slide adjustment, and loop/keeper are all plastic. They seem pretty standard as far as how heavy they are. The d ring for a leash or tags is metal. I pulled it around so I could see the flat side and though it does display a minor gap (only enough to see light through on one side), I couldn't get it to budge with pliers. It may be partially welded, which would be preferable, but at the very least it is incredibly sturdy for the size of collar I ordered. The webbing is pretty soft, and is reflective due to the reflective material woven through the webbing. My photos show how my pug has some loose skin on the underside of her neck, and because of that skin and her being a sensitive flower, I prefer gentler materials for collars. She's had rubs there before from heavier, stiffer webbing collars so I actually like that this one is a little softer and more forgiving. The webbing also does have a very slight smell to it, as some new materials do, but you have to try to find it in order to notice. I'm very pleased with this little collar and I'm glad I ordered it. With the price at the time of writing being only $2.99, you really can't beat the value for a reflective collar.

This is a great collar for $2.99! It is made of an attractive black and white webbing material, and has a D ring sewn into the collar. The closure is a plastic clip, like those on most collars that don't have buckles. The sizing is spot-on, and it is easy to adjust. One thing to take note of: Looking at the specs, all collar sizes have a width of 3/4", which might look a little thin on a thick neck/big dog. When I tried this on my dog, I immediately realized that her other collar is 1" wide. This one was notably narrower, and the material is also thinner. However, being a bit older and fairly well behaved/trained, she really doesn't need a rugged collar. I think that for smaller dogs, this collar would be on-par with the typical small dog collars you'd find at big-box pet stores. For larger dogs, if you have a dog that pulls, you might want something more heavy duty, but for a "decorative" collar or basic collar for a well-behaved mid sized dog, this is quite nice. For the current price of $2.99, I'm super pleased with this find!
