My husband installed this light for me when our washroom fixture needed replacing. He was done installing it in under an hour including digging out the ladder and tools and testing all the electrical in the ceiling and switch. The one thing we were not completely sold on during installation was how the fixture does not screw directly into the fixture receptacle in the ceiling like other fixtures would. (The hubs called it by its official name but I don’t remember it.) It screws into the ceiling itself with drywall anchors. If this product lasted forever that would be fine but it’s LED, meaning it will eventually need to be replaced ( albeit probably years from now) as you can’t just replace the bulb like an old school fixture. Hopefully the new fixture you replace this one with will cover the damage you have to put into your ceiling. It is very lightweight, surprisingly so. I’m sure the drywall anchors will hold it. Just something to think about. I think he just drilled holes into the top of the fixture and installed into the electrical receptacle anyway which wasn’t hard of you can line it up well to predrill holes. You could make a template of the screw holes in your receptacle with masking tape and transfer that onto the back of the fixture. Just be careful not to hit anything electrical, and don’t do it when your fixture is connected to power just in case. Speaking of needing to replace the fixture when the light burns out. There is not too much to this light. I feel like if I could use it for several years before replacing it I would feel less bad about how much waste there is. Although hopefully they find a way to reduce the waste more before it’s a problem. I like the wood element to the design. Our washroom is so small, we installed it so that really only the wood part is visible. There’s few places you can stand far enough out to see the side of the fixture. It’s very flush to the ceiling anyway. and I liked that better than turning it so the half white design showed. I like the different light settings, and how you can toggle between them by flipping the switch on the wall. I also like how it will save your setting for the next time you turn the light on. I’m a fan of warmer light, but if you need to see fine detail you could change the setting easily without a ladder. That feature works well. I would give this light 5/5 for brightness. I almost wish I could dim it sometimes. Overall good value for the money. I would recommend.

I just received this light and this review may be a little premature and I will update later. Opening the box I was happy to see that the light was pretty much as described. The one thing that stood out to me was the plastic disc that you put in to create the filtered light and cover the electronics. It reminds me of those florescent ceiling lights in a lot of kitchens in the 90s that had the plastic covers you had to remove to change the bulbs. I wouldn't say this is a super cheap light, but it is plastic, except the wood trim piece. The thing that stood out to me was the instructions. I am not an electrician, but I have replaced a lot of lights. I am used to buying lights where the instructions were written to be incredibly clear to prevent damage, fires or someone getting hurt and are UL certified. These instructions are okay, except the actual electrical connections. I will probably consult with my electrician friend before installing this as it is not 100% clear. I think I understand them, but need to be 100% sure, as this is not UL certified and any fire would be my fault and thus not covered by insurance. No one wants to burn their house down. The description of this product states that there is an instruction video, but it is not on the product page. That would be really helpful to have for everyone. For now, I am removing one star for the poor instructions and lack of video instructions.
