I can't say anything about the longevity of this item as I have not owned it long but it has done wonders for my back already. Its in my computer chair and I use it for several hours every single day. Its helped my back pain a great deal. I recently bought a new chair and while the chair is very nice and sturdy, its just too big for me (I'm rather short). This cushion solved the problem and made this oversized chair completely ergonomic for me. Another good thing about it is the strap. I suffer from sciatica and coccydynia so there are times I need this back rest up a little higher so I can use my coccyx cushion on the bottom of my chair. I need the back rest lowered again when I'm not using that cushion. All I have to do to adjust this back rest is one quick tug in one direction or the other according to my needs and it stays in place even when raised. Simple, effective and comfortable. ... show more

I had bought some of the cheap mesh and metal lumbar supports from a local store. They served the purpose to let me know that I did need some extra lumbar support. Afterwards I began looking for something better constructed that wouldn't dig into you body as much. This was it! Provides the right amount of lumbar support and the cushion padding wont dig into your side and irritate you. For less than $20 this is a great buy for anyone looking for a little extra lumbar support. It comes with a wooden backing plate that can be removed to control the amount of support you get. The only negative is the strap is not long enough to go around a standard car seat and/or computer chair without being so tight it feels like it will snap. I drive a Hyundai Elantra (2010). It is not an extravagant car and I would not consider its seats to be extra wide, however the strap felt like it was going to snap when sliding the support into position. My computer chair is a standard high backed office chair available at any number of retailers, and it had the same issue on it. Despite the one poor design flaw, I do plan to buy more..one for the home computer, couch and maybe the work office. ... show more

I ordered this back rest along with an orthopedic seat cushion after I a hiking accident that caused a knee injury and triggered sciatic nerve pain. I'm very happy with my purchase. The back rest comes with an elastic strap attached to the back that hooks over your chair and holds it in place. It took a few times of adjusting to find the perfect spot for my back. With the combination of the Coccyx seat cushion and this back cushion, I now have a lot of relief from sciatic nerve pain. I was hoping it would provide some sciatic nerve pain relief but it has done much more then that. I have a tendency to slouch forward over the keyboard since my office chair has no lumbar support. I noticed immediately that it changed my posture. I now find I sit straight up with my back pushed up against the support and it feels wonderful. I no longer get the ache in my back as I did before. I have decided that once my knee is healed and my sciatica eases up I will still use this every day. It's now a permanent fixture on my chair. I will be purchasing another one to set in my recliner too! ... show more

    • Has a good taper off the top, but sides cut into kidney's. Makes a better bottom cushion instead.

I like how it tapers off at top so you don't feel a sharp going across your back. But the sides cut into your kidney area. And that hurts bad after awhile. Probably not good for your kidney's either. Just like my old DxRacer chair with winged sides that just got annoying. The bottom part of the cushion curves under itself a bit. I suppose to fit your butt? Except I don't know anyone who actually sits in that clinical form at all. So basically you don't feel any hip support and all the wight goes right into your lower ribcage or the kidneys. It's constantly making me want to push the cushion down farther into the seat. Except it won't go any farther down. The fabric quality doesn't seem that great either. I can't say how well it holds up over time yet. The back of it has open overlapping cloth without any zipper. It doesn't even have a seam sewn into it. And when you open that you find a hard piece of particle board. I suppose for stability. But the wood just cuts into the fabric when in use. And feels like it will rip right through it very soon. So I took that out. And all of the above is still an issue. That said. Without the wood in it, this cushion works better as an actual seat for your bottom. By sitting directly on it instead of using it for your back. Update: After 7 years I still have this cushion and it's one of the more useful ones I ever owned. Although not great for it's intended purpose, it's been a great sleeping aid, a great cushion for legs on a foot rest, and even a floor seat.
