My fiance loves his drone! We are very active on the weekends- hiking, exploring the Great Lakes, and Adirondack mountains. This drone goes with us everywhere. PROS: -The hard case is a major plus, which gives us the peace of mind that the drone can be packed away or carried around safely. -He loves how stable it is and how easy it is to learn. -We can send the videos online to his parents in Germany so they get to see what we're seeing, and that's priceless. -The battery pack is easy to charge, and fits 3 batteries at once. - The software is easy to install. - Extended warranty and protection plans are available through DJI. - Doesn't need to be registered to fly in the US. - Has Return-To-Home ability. - Tells us when the wind is too strong to safely return to home automatically. - Decent battery life. CONS: - Diagram is in Chinese. The small English manual is limited on the information provided, and we ended up researching our questions on YouTube. - Flying with the protectors on puts it over the weight limit for drones that don't need to be registered. The drone will notify you that max height has been reached. - Notifications for high winds seem to occur even on days with only slight breezes. - Video and image quality degrade when sharing footage online. This may be due to compression, but we have not explored this. - Battery life is majorly reduced with guards on. Understandable, but an inconvenience. - Taking off on an uneven surface like grass or gravel causes it to issue a warning that it is over water. - Necessitates purchasing a landing pad or carrying something opaque and smooth to avoid setting off false "water" alerts. - The controller is not designed to accommodate larger phones. We had to really struggle with his phone (Samsung A70) to get it to fit, and it was not very securely held in place. There is a short cord to connect the controller to the phone, and it barely reaches the port on the phone. Again, he loves his drone, and this is great for beginners like us. You may find yourself thinking about an upgrade fairly quickly if you're planning on using this frequently and for serious photography. ... show more

    • Great little drone, good images.
This was supposed to be a renewed unit. However, the unit and the packaging all looked new and still in the shrink wrap. I had gotten another, off-brand, drone that I thought was a lot of fun. But the Mavic Mini puts it to shame. It flys well and is stable. Once you get it into position, you can concentrate on the photography and let the drone fly itself. The three axis gimbal stabilizing and controllable control response makes getting good video without making people sea-sick a snap. Battery life is quite good which allows lots of flying time before having to land to swap batteries. Depending on how hard you push it, you should get at least 20 minutes on a battery, 25-30 if you are gentle. The range of the remote is way longer than you can legally fly since you will lose sight of the drone long before you run out of signal. This is a perfect drone for a beginner or experienced person that isn't looking to spend a lot or need all the extra bells and whistles. The media could not be loaded. I had just recently got the Mavic Mini when a bad train crash happened in our little town of Sibley, IA. My drone footage made it on the New York Times, ABC, CBS, BBC, CNN, and all of the major media outlets! My name showed up on all of the footage and I have gotten so much praise for the amazing Video's this thing has shot! I literally could not be happier with its performance, range, and clarity! Honestly, I stuck with radio controlled things... but this has been very easy to learn and use. I've taken some pretty incredible videos with it in just a short time flying it. I did crash it my first time out being stupid and flying at 12 inch altitude at 20ish mph. The ground level came up and it hit tall grass and tumbled. The locate v feature worked perfectly. I turned off, then on again and it worked fine. Other than that, it has some nice preprogrammed features for stunning videos. I'm very satisfied abs look forward to learning much more. ... show more

I am very satisfied with the drone, and it flies like a dream. Only reason this did not get 5 stars is two of the batteries will not take a full charge and the remote has diminished battery life. I bought this to replace the same model I already owned and crashed, and I can tell the batteries are well used and do not last like my sets.
