  • Nice project

Great build and a lot of fun!

  • Relaxing and time consuming model. I'm hooked!
Style: English
I've been eyeballing these miniature style models for a while now and thought it might be fun to build one. I'm completely new to the subject so this was my first attempt. This is a pretty complicated tiny model, which when finish measures only about 3.5x3.5x4 in tall. It has a lot of steps, and while the glue and sandpaper are enclosed, you're going to need to supply your own exacto blade, scissors and tweezers. I also recommend having a small block of Styrofoam handy which I used to assist drying my tiny little lollipops. It might have just been my newness to miniatures, but it took me a long time to build this- slightly over a day. As such, it's likely to take up quite a bit of your time as well. I was absolutely delighted by this because it's mindless work that occupies my brain so that I don't ruminate on other thoughts offering a nice reprieve from life. I just binge watched a series and worked on this model. The directions are kind of wanting and I found myself looking back at the finished picture more than not. Translation has not been completely coherent, and while it does offer photos of components, sometimes those can be confusing. The glue enclosed is a rubber cement-like substance that dries pretty quickly and strings terribly. I was constantly having to use my blade to cut fine strings of the glue from my model so it didn't look hairy. It doesn't dry as quick as super glue, so I found myself working on other components of the model letting certain pieces dry and skipping around in directions. I think that the major problems I ran into were close to the end of the model, trying to figure out how to assemble the clear case and wire it up. I found that this model does not come with batteries so I was unable to test the lighting and I was not pleased that I had to join wires using basically paper tape which also was used to secure the battery box to the bottom of the model and was not very secure so I had to supply my own method of gluing it to the bottom. You're going to need a fine tip screwdriver to open the battery box on this as well. I actually ran out of glue by the time I needed to glue the plexiglass together, which was partially my fault as I was excessively free with my glue use and wasted a bit as it dried to the tip. Directions basically explain to stick it together and don't offer any tips or assistance in regards to gluing it. I plan to leave the front accessible, however the model comes with plexiglass to cover the five exposed sides including the top which is not shown in my photos. I love the fact this model has little things rather than layered cardstock or cardboard like some of the miniatures do. I really enjoyed assembling all the little tiny components together and already have two more of these sets in my shopping cart ready for purchase. I'm going to pick one up to give to my daughter-in-law who fell in love with my model for her birthday. I've shopped around for a number of these models since building this one and keep coming back to this manufacturer. At the present price of $14.99 plus a 10% coupon, that makes this model pretty hard to beat and well within fair market value. ... show more

  • Too small for my taste

I opened the box, saw the size of the pieces and decided to send it back. It was entirely due to the size. The quality if good.

  • Lots of broken wood pieces
Style: Classic
The instructions are very clear to understand, but many parts are not labeled with dimensions. Also many parts are broken straight out of the box! This is the third one I have made and the quality is very poor. I do not recommend

  • Not as hard as others
Style: Cottage
A lot easier since most of the wood pieces are snap in which means a little less gluing! Overall a simpler project compared to some other ones I've done. (Calico critters pictured with for scale [and cuteness!]) This would be really nice for a beginner.

  • Fun--but yes, very time-consuming!
Style: English
I've been wanting to try one of these kits out for ages, and I figured a really small setup like this would be a perfect entry into it. My lord. This isn't a complaint, because I like that I can't just do it all in one day, but it is FUSSY. As others have mentioned, you have to cut everything out yourself (a pair of Cutter Bee scissors is a godsend for that part. Don't rely on regular scissors, because the blades will just be too big). It's very fussy, and if you don't have a lot of patience, you're quickly going to get annoyed. I also think you should make sure you have a pair of offset tweezers to help you with placement. That's one thing I don't have, and it's making things more difficult than it needs to be. Also, there are a few items that require you to cut out specific measurements, which is something I don't like very much, especially since I also don't have a ruler! I'm only about halfway through so far, but I've honestly been enjoying myself. I just put together a few pieces while keeping a movie on in the background, and it's really relaxing to me. THAT SAID, I do wish the instructions were a little bit better. They're doing the job so far, but there are a few parts that confused me a little bit. All my complaints are really just little things, but I'll come back here for an update if I get to the end of the project and something goes wrong. Unless you see an update, though, be assured I highly recommend these kits! ... show more
