This is a MASSIVE kit, with generously sized jars of dip powder. It has dusting brush, a nice stack of tiny buffing/filing boards, cuticle pusher, extra bottle brushes in case you forget to clean them and they harden up. It has four little bottles of dip base, activator, top coat, and brush cleaner. To say you use a lot of the brush-on product dipping nails is an understatement. The instructions state to dip nails into the powder jar at a 45° angle. If your nails are any longer than short tips, it's messy to do without a tray. (I used a plastic bag and poured it over my nails/swatches back into the jar. Swatches done to showcase all the pretty powders, and there are 56 beautiful powders that are super rich and opaque(except for the two clearish bases), and can be done in as little as two coats for most. They range from Soft Pastels and Natural nail shades to Punchy bold colours, Neons, Shimmers, Chunky Glitters(that are difficult to get to stick with the dip base, and therefore make the nails thick and chunky), and Black. For the price, it's got a lot of variety, but for a beginner, or someone who wants to dip longer nails, this would be very messy without a dip tray, and you're going to run out of your dip medium bottles at about the third set of medium length nails, if done as directed, as those bottles are tiny. This is a really nice kit with a huge color assortment of top notch powders. Unfortunately there are only 4 half filled bottles of liquid with this kit as seems to be the case with so many of these kits. The base coat and the top coat are good but the activator is junk. Since there is no where near enough liquid to support all the colors I will have to buy more liquid but I definitely intend to use all the powders up. Everything is easy to use and quick drying. I would like to have seen a nail drill included as it is difficult to clean up around the edges of your nails because it dries so quickly. I also attempted a fill on a broken nail as you can see from the pictures. This is my first attempt but doing a fill requires that you smooth down the lumps between coats, which is tough with the little included files. This is quite a comprehensive set for DIY powder dip nails. I have never done powder at a salon for fear of contamination, so I figured I could try this at home. There is a variety of colors. The downside is that the liquid bottles are so small and it was missing a bottle from the kit. Personally, I couldn't get it smooth consistently like others have. A bunch of pros and cons to this kit, but it does what it says -- although the "gift" part is kind of situational. Pros: - ALL the colors! This kit is super fun if you want to play with dip color combinations or you want a back-up of detail colors - All the bits and bobs you need to start out and test whether you like dip powders. It comes with a brush and base, curing and top coats. It even has a brush saver liquid. - Goodly amount of each of the colors. This isn't a one-use kit: there is enough powder of each color to work with for a while. Cons: - The packaging of this "gift" is a cardboard box with descriptions printed on it. It's not industrial, but it's also not pretty gift packaging - The packaging of the liquids is cheap, thin, white plastic. They feel like children's play nail polishes rather than anything professional - Overall, I get the vibe that this set is a lot like those "all the eyeshadow colors!!!" sets that little girls love to play with. Everything is there, it all seems fine... it just does not feel high quality. From a gift perspective, I would be more likely to give this to a young one who would be impressed by all the colors and not care about the quality. For someone who is all about packaging and quality presentation, this would not be an effective gift.
