  • Amazing starter kit
Okay. I bought this on my parents prime account. But this is my personal review of the item. This is a fantastic dip starter set. Let’s start with some of the issues with previous reviews. There appear to be 3 different pink powders. Any reviews that state they are the wrong color are people who did not use the dips yet. While they do look similar inside the canisters, they are 3 very different colors. A pale rose, a gold glitter, and a sparkly white. I promise you if you try them and actually USE the product, they are the colors advertised. Second, topic: ease of use. This was my first time trying dips at home. It takes a bit of practice to get the shaping/filing steps down! But once you have it, it gets easier each time doing your own refills. In the photo I added to my review you can see each nail has multiple colors. It’s bc I like to get creative and do the fills and any chipped/crack refills with another color. I don’t add any tips on my own nails. This is simply the dip on top of my nails and I just keep them filed as I refill so they never get long. My preference is shorter nails since I work a lot with my hands. Even with rigorous outdoors work (I wear protective gloves all times) these don’t chip or crack to often. And if they do, then I just look at it as another chance to get some filling and shaping practice in. The second photo is of the three colors always in question in the reviews. 49 is the pink color, 70 is the gold glittery color, and 75 is the whitish glittery color. If you look at the 3rd photo you’ll see 70. The color other reviewers seem to question. You can see the powder looks pink with maybe silver glitter. But once you do the dip then activate it and then put the top coat, it comes out as the gold glitter you can see on my thumb in the photo. I wouldn’t say this is perfect for beginners, but if you’re patient and out in some practice, this will save you a lot of time and money. This is a great set. Great quality. And I’ll definitely be purchasing more colors in the future!!! I chose this particular color set bc it has summer and fall/winter shades that I like. I hope you will enjoy this too. I was not paid or sponsors or coerced in any way to write a positive review. ... show more

  • Decent starter kit to try acrylic powders.
Nice little starter set. This set has everything you need to start. No lamp required. I would also buy a nice file and clear building powder, and some cuticle oil. (The directions were confusing as they mentioned clear powder but didn't include any.) Clear powder isn't required, but will help you build a base without wasting your colored powder. You'll eventually want a better bottle of activator and top coat, the brushes in these are just ok. You can buy 3 step kits here. My best advice? Don't use one broken skin or rough cuticles. Push your cuticles as far back as you can, and paint step 1 as neatly as you can, being careful not to go over the cuticle or side of the nail. After you've dipped 2 or 3 times and used activator, file, file, and file some more! Even better if you have a drill. After 2 or 3 layers of powder, you can file a lot. You also want to file the nail as evenly as you can down with the cuticle to prevent lifting or snagging. You won't file off the color, don't worry. The top coat makes it shiney and pretty again. If you have patience and enjoy doing nails, this kit is for you. 6 nice colors to get you started. If you are impatient, I would skip this and do press on nails or polish. There is some damage to your natural nails if you prep file them a lot, or if you're impatient and remove the powder incorrectly. My next adventure is figuring how to get this stuff off safely... ... show more

  • Awesome kit! But do some research if you're a beginner for best results!
Bought this to get into dip powder and it's a great starter kit for beginners. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because you do need a few additional tools to achieve the best results such as a clear powder for encapsulating the colors and especially the glitters, a buffing block, and a cuticle pusher. I seriously recommend watching some videos on YouTube there are a lot of great ones for beginners. Everyone has a slightly different dip routine but most dip kits are the same basic steps. I have not used all the colors in the kit yet yet but two coats is enough for full opacity for the two I've used. I can't wait to try the other colors and am already buying more directly from Modelones website. Their dip powders and liquids are really awesome quality and the best price I've encountered so far. I've done two sets so far (attached a pic of my first set) and my liquids have not thickened up at all. It seems to help if you wipe the brush on a paper towel after EVERY time it touches a nail, before you put it back in the bottle. The basic dip routine is prep nails (gently push cuticles back and buff the shine off your natural nail, dehydrate (wipe nails with nail dehydrator or rubbing alcohol) > Base > Dip > Let Dry > Base > Dip > Let Dry > Activate > Let Dry (do the tap test to check for the satisfying tappy sound) > Buff nail surface > Activate > Wipe nail surface with a paper towel to remove any residual excess activator before applying two coats of topcoat. Make sure to wait the full amount of drying time according to the included instructions. Also final tip, use THIN layers of liquid for smoother application and avoid the cuticle! Make sure to separate the cuticle from the product if they touch, otherwise as the nail grows out it can contribute to lifting as it pulls away from the skin. ... show more
