The Diono Radian 3R is the original slim-fit 3 across All-in-One convertible car seat, designed to protect from baby to booster seat (5 - 120 lb). Lovingly engineered with the famous Diono steel reinforced frame and now rear facing for even longer, expect 10 years of safety from just one car seat. Designed and engineered with complete rear facing protection, so you can keep them in a safe rear facing convertible car seat for longer up to 50 lb. Built with a mechanically engineered, reinforced steel frame, made from automotive grade high strength steel, the radian is always ready to shield and protect. And when your family grows, the slim-fit design will fit 3 across in most vehicles without compromising child safety or passenger comfort. I flew two trips with this and another seat. It is heavy for flights, but I managed, also fairly quick and easy to install in a plane seat. If flying with it again I would devise a way to lock it folded up and to carry it as a backpack. Usually it is installed in a full size truck and I like how it looks and is easy to get in and out of for my 4 almost 5 yr old. There were 2 features I purchased this for. The narrow construction that allows for 3 carseats side by side. It took 2 of these and another narrow seat to fit forward facing in a Saturn ion. Second is the all in one. Won't need to buy another seat or booster. If used rear facing, these take up more room than other seats. They are tall, plus the angle make it difficult to fit in a small car with a tall person in the front seat. Would not work for an infant in my Ion. I also like that is very sturdy. There's lots of metal in the construction. Feels safer. The trade-off is that it's heavy. But that's not a concern unless moving it from car to car all the time. Have only used as a forward facing carseat so far. But I like all the options that it can be used for. There are less expensive seats, but having to buy a rear facing, then forward, then a booster ads up. May save money in the long run if starting with just this one all-in-one. On the other hand, the dedicated infant car seats that can detach are super handy for going into stores without unbuckling your baby. Something to consider. These carseats are great for the price I previously had a 600$ cybex carseat for my toddler and this Diono beats it by far!! The material exceeded my expectations plus it was so easy to install al three of them! They are sturdy, lightweight and very comfortable!

I purchased this car seat when I didn’t have much back seat space. I was able to fit this car seat into my car unlike a lot of other car seats. I appreciate that it saves on space but still seems quite durable. It does not come with cup holders like most car seats these days, however, I was able to purchase a separate cup holder attachment which has worked great. The seat is easy to install, and my child is much more comfortable in this seat as opposed to some other leading competitor seats. I wish I had bought this seats for both cars! ... show more

I randomly decided to downsize from a three-row vehicle to a two-row vehicle, so I needed to find car seats that would fit 3 across comfortably. These car seats definitely work for that. The thing I didn’t like about them is the company’s attempt to save money by not providing any instructions in the box (3 new boxes and absolutely no instructions). There are picture instructions on the side of the car seats, but like most things, these car seats are a little different than other car seats, so more detailed instructions would’ve been appreciated-particularly for rear-facing installation. If they want to save money, maybe they should provide a QR code with links to instructions and videos. They didn’t so I was left trying to find instructions for my exact model. The belts that give you lax for anchoring are also really annoying. Broke a few nails in the process. ... show more

Pros: The seat seems good so far. Even though the footprint is more narrow (as compared to a Graco 3 in 1) it still seems plenty roomy for our 3 year old. Easy to install, ridged LATCH clips, can be folded up for easy transport, seat manual stows inside the seat (some people said it was missing but it is not) Cons: lots of separate parts, has added base and tether for rear facing, added seat padding (for something I don't remember), has an extra tether strap to reduce shock for child under 40lbs but need to remember to remove it when the child gets bigger, pads for straps are bulky and seem uncomfortable for child, tether/chest strap is very long ... show more

I spent a solid week debating between the Graco Slimfit and the Diono - and I am SO GLAD I went with the Diono. We previously had the bulky Graco DLX4Evers, and my 5yo would constantly say her legs were uncomfortable, despite the seat being positioned correctly. Getting in and out was always a struggle too, due to how bulky they are. After needing to replace the Gracos, we switched out to the 3RX and my kiddos (3yo and 5yo) both LOVED them. They both said how comfortable they are, and my 5yo spent days saying how much more comfortable it was. Getting in and out is SO MUCH easier for them both, now that there's no bulk. No more hitting heads on the roof, either. Bonus! Instruction manual is tucked into a pocket under the seat cover, and despite a lot of reviews saying installation is hard, it's not that bad at all. Different to the Gracos? For sure! (But I am also only using forward-facing, which is pretty easy, I imagine rear-facing is more tedious).
