Haha, I love this Meter, it's gigantic, which some may not like, but I do. It has a very strong magnet on the back to adhere to an electrical panel or to even stick to the hook\fender wall of your car. On top of all this, I ordered the one with the mechanical blocking, because I goof sometimes and certainly didn't want to destroy my meter or at least, have to go replacing fuses and all that. Overall, I love these unit. The only, and I mean only downside is that it doesn't have place holders for the terminal. However, it does come with an awesome little carrying case, which works fine to hold everything. Oh, and last, it has a heavy duty out casing covering the entire meter. This meter has an interesting feature that when you turn the dial for the particular variable/range, it has a mechanical stop/go inhibit to keep you from plugging your meter leads into the wrong jacks.     • It's no Fluke meter.

This review is for the BTMETER BT-770M multi meter. 2-24 Let's keep in mind that we are talking about a $35.00 meter here. If you're expecting the quality of a Fluke, then you had better stop here and move on. Now, with that said, let's look at this meter. The meter was purchased because the Fluke had an issue, and a replacement was in need. The meter seems well enough made. Some of the features are nice, while others, like the lockouts on the lead connections, could become a PIA if the tool was used every day for multiple tasks. The selection dial is very hard to read, at least it is for this old guy. Many of the selections should have been covered under the " auto settings mode " instead of having to select from multiple options within the same test range. If there is one, I couldn't find a switch so that the backlight could be turned on. It seems that the backlight only comes on as the area around the meter darkens. " Photo cell " There's not really anything that stands out on this meter, other than it did have separate a mode for capacitance testing. That, and the temperature prob, were the main reasons that this meter was picked over many others. I do not expect that this meter will see much use, so I'm hoping that the meter will last awhile. Oh, the meter has already paid for itself by tracking down the bad resistor in the Fluke meter. That repair of the Fluke would have been quite expensive by the time shipping and all that was added in to a repair, if the Fluke was sent in for repair. So...is this meter worth the money, I'd say yes. I mean really, we are talking about $35.00 here, and let's face it, $35.00 does not go far these days. Is it accurate? Well, it went head to head with the Fluke and held it's own. Could it be trusted for building a rocket launcher...most likely not! If you're just starting out and need an inexpensive meter that covers many things, this is a good choice. Oh, this meter also has a port for testing transistors and such. Never seen that on a multi meter before, not that that means much. As always, if you're a pro looking for a test meter, or other such items... what are you doing looking at $35.00 tools?     • Worthless and a Complete Disappointment

I was interested in this multimeter based on reviews and the fact that it uses a single, 9 volt battery instead of multiple smaller batteries. However, once I received it, my actual experience with the meter was terrible and I had to return it. To begin with, the item description touts the “mechanical lockout” which is supposed to prevent the user from accidentally using the wrong input jacks for a particular function. The problem is this: it also prevents the user from actually using all of the functions available! In my case, the meter arrived with the volt/ohm jack and the 800mA jacks blocked. And, there are no instructions on how to remove the blocks. From what I can see, you would have to disassemble the meter to remove the blocks. What’s the point of buying a multimeter that restricts HALF of its functionality? I was able to use the DC 20 amp function and take a few current readings, and the measurements seemed to be accurate and easy to read. However, after using the meter only twice, the rotary selector locked up and only rotated to the AC side of the functions. Finally, customer support was non-existent. I tried to contact the seller for assistance and got no response. This might be due to a problem with the Amazon seller support page, which seems to leave you nowhere. I also sent an email to the manufacturer ([email protected], as posted on Amazon) and got absolutely zero response there as well. Even if this was just “one of those things” wherein I got a defective item, the poor design and lack of instructions regarding the mechanical block AND the non-existent customer support have soured me on this line of multimeters.
