I needed to use a bolt cutter to make the spike section shorter, because the fence post was in concrete and we couldn't hammer the spikes into that. Even shorter it was super strong. Why did you pick this product vs others?: The grates that cover the ground are sturdy, look good and so far, great. They already made it through a New England winter without corrosion. The row of stakes to anchor the grates, however, do not work. They kept bending and then the nails kept breaking off. They’ll only work if the ground is soft, even, and nothing gets in the way. I ended up buying tent stakes to solidly anchor the grates and build a barrier for animals to dig underneath the grates. ... show more

Purchased to keep groundhog out of the property, to have a greater chances with the garden's outcome. The fence is good quality, yet I underestimated the soil: clay and rocks that makes it much harder to install.

Love the no-dig grate part, works great and clears the gate without issue, however the spike strips to secure it to the earth leave a lot to be desired. There is only a single piece of steel connecting the spikes, so unless you are driving it into sand as soon as you hit some resistance it starts bending, so you go back to the original side to even it out, which causes the other side to raise up again, leading down and endless cycle until you give up and toss it to the side. I secured mine using 5” landscaping staples, using between 10-12 each to secure them. Also as a side note, you should sell half length sections as well, I ended up having to order another set so I could cut them down to fill in the gap for my 8ft gate. ... show more
