I just recently bought a Sizzex texture boutique machine to emboss paper which did okay, but then I wanted to try dye cutting. And realized that the Sizzex texture boutique doesn’t allow me to die cut. So I purchased this machine that did embossing and die cutting. And all I can say is Wow. It die cuts really well and the embossing on this machine is much better. It embosses just a tad deeper which makes the paper more elegant looking. Actually better than the Sizzex machine. The handle on the Craftgenes turns smoothly with very little effect turning it. Which again the Sizzex is sometimes challenging. The cost and the accessories were particularly satisfying. It does have details in the booklet that tells you exactly how to use the plates differently with the different thickness of the embossing folders. So pretty much it is easy to use. The quality seems to be very good. and doesn’t take up much space. ... show more

  • Seems pretty well made
Color: Pink
Never used one before so I thought on the first time I had done broke it. But I didn’t thank goodness. Instructions are ok but I still don’t know what the plastic film is for or the 2 sheets of thick magnets. I do love that it cuts the little detailed pieces so well. I don’t supposed it’s a bad price for trying before you invested too much into it and not like it. Heavier than it looks but not a bad size. ... show more

  • UPDATED Review re: magnetic plates
Color: Pink
EDIT: The seller reached out to me and was so nice. First of all, there are 2 magnetic plates included, not just one, so that was making my stack bigger than it had to be. I could not see that there were 2 until I put it under a bright lamp, and even after I found out, they were incredibly difficult to separate, but I did it. Secondly, I realized they recommend using individual shims of paper to thicken the stack if needed. I'm enjoying playing with this! Making sure the plates are stacked correctly, centered, and then rolling it is a little challenging at times, but I also need more practice. I think it is a 4 star product, but given that so many sellers don't even bother to reach out and try to help someone, any seller who does always gets an extra star from me. So I edited from 3 stars to 5 stars. I'm confident if I ever have future issues, this seller will help. Thank you! I like this, and it's fun to use and cuts and embosses very well, but there is a magnetic plate that was included, and it's basically useless. There is no combination of other plates I can stack together that isn't either too small so nothing happens when I try to roll it through or too high that it won't even begin rolling. If I am missing something, please let me know, because I was very excited about that magnetic plate to maximize the number of pieces I can die cut at once and prevent as much waste of material as possible. Without the magnetic plate involved, it works fine, and it isn't really hard to roll the stacked plates through (which was my biggest concern with a manual tool). Still a good value for the money, but I hope someone will let me know if/what I might be missing with the magnetic plate! Thanks. ... show more

Okay, so at first I thought it didn’t work, and was VERY upset. BUT I have some tips if your machine isn’t working right since it’s dang near impossible to actually contact them. 1. Make sure that the screw is screwed in as tightly as you can possibly get it. Like unreasonable, almost dangerous levels of making sure that that thing is fully set in. 2. If you’re using third-party embossing folders, you might have to try using the white base plate, putting the embossing folder with the material and THEN putting the thicker C plate on TOP of that, so it’s not too thick. Once I kind of self trouble-shot it worked just fine actually! It actually does a really decent job at fully indenting even on folded paper all four sides. If you’re new to embossing and die cutting, it is a little scary at first I haven’t tried die cutting and I will update once I do so but, for now, I think I figured it out. ... show more

I was so excited about this machine ! Read up on a lot of different ones this one seemed to fit my needs and budget. This thing isn’t working per the instruction manual. It’s not cutting right and cracking the plates . The dies are cutting the plates and it sounds like it’s going to explode when I am putting it through . /: I’ve watched a good bit of videos for card making (im a crafter) and theirs doesn’t do that … I think I might’ve gotten a defective one . Customer Service reached out and took care of it !! They sent me out another machine and this one works great!!! Thank y’all SO much!! Customer service 10/10 thank you thank you! :) ... show more

  • Not working properly
Color: Pink
I am so unhappy with this purchase. It doesn't work properly and I carefully followed directions. I bought this for die cutting and it only cuts the small ones included in this package. It doesn't cut any others. I have reached out via email and I have yet to hear back with any help. I will most likely be returning this product. ... show more

  • Frustrated and sad.
Color: Blue
I bought this machine because I’m getting into paper crafting and very excited to start die cutting for making cards and bookmarks and other things. After reading the reviews, I decided on this one. So, I got the machine, got all the contents out of the box and everything was there. I attached the crank/handle on machine, (which was very easy to do) I read the instructions and decided to try cutting some dies. I lined up the pieces it suggested, put it in the machine and turned the crank. The machine fed everything through with a little resistance, but everything was beginning to feed through. I rechecked the manual and yes, I have all the plates/layers added correctly, so I continued to turn the crank and it continued to feed the stack through. When it came out the other side and was free of the machine, I pulled the stack off and removed the layers/plates to see how it worked. It cut beautifully! I used the butterfly dies and a piece of cardstock that was all included with the machine. I was very excited. So I began to create other things, cutting out dies to add to card stock and make different designs. I played around with it for a few more hours. I also rotated the acrylic cover plates to prevent warping (?) It was suggested to do that in the manual. Then, only after a few hours of using this machine, all of a sudden, the stack would not feed into the machine. I took it out and readjusted everything, made sure I didn’t have an extra plate in my stack, but no, it was layered EXACTLY as it has been. I tried to feed it through again- wouldn’t budge. I took the stack out and checked the machine for anything that may be caught in there. I checked the rollers and they were rolling just fine. They were free of any debris or possible loose papers and there was nothing there so I tried it again and about the fourth attempt it did go through, but it was much more difficult. I don’t understand why it’s a lot more difficult if I’m doing everything the way the manual says to do it. I’m rotating the plates and I’m using the correct plates that the manual says to use. The card stock I’m using is the same card stock as what was sent with the machine. I have tried using it a few more times and it’s still meeting resistance when I feed it into the machine. There has been a few times that it would go through and I didn’t do anything different than the times it wouldn’t even feed into the machine. This really saddens me and frustrates me, I am not able to continue with this machine, because I don’t know what is going on with it. I really want to enjoy this, because I love crafting!! I hope the seller will reach out to me. Maybe I got a defective machine? I will definitely update my review and rating accordingly. Thanks for reading. ... show more
