  • Did the job and did it well!
Without divulging the details, I used this lil’ guy as the timed watering element for an invention I hope to patent. Once you get used to setting all of the functions, it works like a charm. I do wish that it included a sprayer function, but you can’t win ‘em all. I tried several Bluetooth enabled indoor drip irrigation systems, and they were all subpar. In the age of digital, sometimes you just have to stick with manual for the best results, and I’m glad I did with this purchase. ... show more

  • Great idea and perfect for my plants
Loved the visual setting capabilities. The previous ones that I bought had a hidden settings which required more thinking!!! This is way easy to set. The set up with the 1/4" piping was a breeze as well.

  • Product works well but company unresponsive for request for additional tubing.
The product actually works very well. You receive enough tubing, connectors and emitters for approximately 10 plants. I have more and than that and like to move my plants around which is now difficult as I have cut the tubing based on the plant's current placement . I need more tubing and supplies so I emailed the company for information on how to order. I received a response asking for my order number which I sent back to them. I never heard anything more from the company. ... show more

  • Waters the plants while I am on the road
I have intermittent travel and this automatic plant watering system solves the problem I had where I would forget to water my plants before I left. When I returned from a business trip, my plants would be almost dead and I would take them out and soak them for a while to bring them back. This little gadget solves that problem where I can just fill up a pitcher once in a while and it parcels that water out to the plants daily. Programing was easy, the instructions are good. I checked, and the tubing is standard sized and you can get more at any of the big home improvement stores. I have been a little light on the waterings as my big fear is that I will leave and this will flood the plants (and my hardwood floors) so I have only had it do a few seconds. Just doing a small amount of time still seems adequate. I think I have to entirely replace all the tubing as there seems to be some discoloration of the clear tubing this ships with, after some time. I don't understand why the manufacturer went with clear tubing on this, unless it is just to see the water moving around. Having to replace the tubing is kind of irritating. Overall, this is a peace of mind product. You can automate away one thing that is easy to forget and not worry about your plants and worry about forgetting to water them. The price of this unit is right in line with what I would expect. I feel this is worth it and justifies the amount with what it does, the only problem is the tubing and that there is no backup battery. ... show more

  • Kinda seems retro
This is a great item if you have a small garden or a number of potted plants/flowers in your home. The main unit is what you connect the "out" tubes, as well as the "in" tubing where the water is drawn from. You get enough tubing to cover a good bit, so you'll need scissors to cut how much you need. I like that it comes with a lot. My only complaint is the main unit. It looks like something from the early 2000's. It has a monochrome screen, which in this day in age should at least be a color screen. Is also has a turn knob to switch the settings. I get that they're trying to keep costs down, but I've seem smaller items that had very basic touch screens. The screen itself is sometimes difficult to see when sunlight is washing it out. To operate it is simply. You set the clock, choose the time duration, the period cycle, and then set it to auto and you're good to go. I tried it out and it works as advertised. One tip; you will need to make sure that the tubes are pushed very securely onto the black path dividers, or they will burst off and you'll have water everywhere. ... show more

  • great for bringing plants inside in winter
The "DIAFIELD Automatic Watering System for Potted Plants, Indoor Drip Irrigation Kit with 30 Day" is my second watering system for inside. Almost all these systems let you program just one setting for all your plants regardless of water needs and size. that's why I got a second sysytem. One will take care of 10 smaller plants or plants that do not need massive amounts of water, the new Diafield will be programmed (and hooked into a much bigger water bucket) to care for my big plants like the lemon trees, kiwis, and ferns. @ tubes will go into my biggest over winter guest, a huge Hibiscus - about 7 feet high. The setup for the Diafield was simple and easy, the instructions are good, but make sure you cut the tubing long enough. The unit is a bit noisier than my other one and it does not bhave a battery backup in case of power outage ( i have not tested if it turns itself back on and keeps the programming or if it wipes it all out). The current price of $35.97 minus a small 5% coupon brings the price to $33.24 - this price is identical to my other unit which has a battery backup. ... show more

  • Works but do the math and some experimentation
Good watering system, but you need to take the time to do the math to figure out how much water to have in your container and how much your plants need. Using the manual mode, I found that 15 seconds dispenses 8ozs of water (1 cup). So, depending on how may watering cycles you have and how long each cycle is, you need to ensure that you have sufficient water in the bucket to cater to all those cycles. Before that, you will need to figure out how much each plant needs. The watering volume will also vary for each tube depending on how far down the line they are. One way is to place a measuring cup at the end of each tube to see what volume you get for each cycle, and then arrange your plants accordingly, with the one needing the most at the beginning of the line. I would definitely test this while I'm at home to ensure that it's set up with the right settings before I leave this alone with my plants. You can set this to run for a 30-day period, but it would also mean that you will need a very large container to hold the water that will be required for that amount of time. For instance, if you need 32ozs per day to be dispensed for 30 days, you will need 7.5 gallons of water. I would also go over this amount to compensate for evaporation and to ensure that the filter remains submerged. ... show more
