I am a 22 year old adult I weigh 165 lb. This bed was able to support me every night it never collapsed it's still standing strong now and my little sister is using it because I got a new bed I got a king size I would still recommend this bed I'm probably going to buy it again if I feel like getting another loft bed but you definitely need to mount it to a wall like stabilize it and drill it into a wall or something it's not wobbly to the point where to fall over but it is definitely rickety if you move at night the entire bed sways you can't do any kind of vigorous movement definitely no jumping standing up underneath the bed is also a no I am 54 and I cannot stand up straight under the bed it is small but sitting up was no problem. I'd say it has a sturdy build I got it a year ago it's still standing and none of the planks have broken. ... show more

The bed is sturdy for my 12 year old daughter, she weighs about 90 lbs. I wouldn’t buy this for a kid over 140 pounds, not because of the bed but because the ladder rungs aren’t the thickest. It’s a space save and turned a small bedroom into a much more useable space for my daughter as now her desk and vanity are both under her bed. Assembly is pretty easy, remember to not over tighten the bolts will sink into the wood if your not careful. As time passes I can tell that the bed will need to be re-tightened as does most furniture. All in all good buy especially for the price and it shipped fast and was received within a week. I cancelled an order for her bedroom set that was on back order for four months with a furniture store and got a much better value. ... show more

DO NOT BUY THIS BED! It looks super cute but it is super flimsy “wood” material. It is quite wobbly when assembled, which I wasn’t thrilled about. The “wood” is very poor quality and it cracked all over. My daughter is 58 lbs and within 3 weeks of using it, there were no less than 16 cracks all over the frame, rails, slats. Dorel was not super helpful and one of the reps even indicated that cracks are okay! I didn’t feel okay about it at all, and I knew this bed wouldn’t last very long. Amazon customer service was awesome; they helped us return it for a full refund. (Such a pain the the butt to set it up and then disassemble it in one month, but what can you do?) We bought another loft bed from collegebedlofts.com. What a difference in quality! The bed is so sturdy! I’m so impressed with the solid construction. Their beds are made in the USA, solid spruce, with a 1000 lb weight limit. I highly recommend them. I ordered the loft bed from their HQ in upstate NY and it was delivered to CA in less than a week.     • This is a great bed. You must re-tighten after a week or two!
My daughter and I put this together in about 2 hours. Two important things to remember: make sure the top rails are on the right side AND facing the right way(starter holes for connecting rails/ladder are on ONE side), Make sure the bottom rail IS the bottom rail (it wont have any starter holes). It seems not very sturdy at first, but once put together and tightened, it is impressive for this price range. I don't recommend this for a child that is rambunctious and will try to swing from the rail, bounce around or sway the bed. It's not a toy or a dance platform. It will loosen over time with that kind of force and become unstable. After two weeks my daughter said it became "shaky" so I re-tightened all the bolts (don't over tighten or you will strip the nuts) and that took care of it. I bought this frame for my full mattress from my old bed. Its a nice color, it has a good hight. The screws could have been better. It creeks a bit, it was pretty easy to assembly but on some parts it was a little harder. The bed does make noise though. Definitely more for kids or people on the lighter side. ... show more

I purchased two of these beds for my newly 3 and 5 year-olds. I put the first together with help and it took about 1.5 hours. I did the second on my own and it took about the same amount of time. It was a little harder, but it is possible. Single parents great not. The bed is going to wobble a little bit. It just is. Strong trees sway with the wind but aren't uprooted. The weight limit is 250lb. I'm 5'11" weighing 150 and was on the bed to put the sheets and blanket on. It felt sturdy enough for me, so my 35 pound kids are certainly no trouble. These beds look amazing! I mean it. The safety rails are perfect! I have no fear that my kids will fall off. The ladder is adjustable and I didn't even secure it with screws so that I could take it away from my 3 year-old since he's a turd sometimes. The bed is a total space saver and has opened up both my kid's rooms. I do plan on attaching L brackets to the bed and studs in the wall, but I don't think it is an absolute necessity. I just know my young kids will play on the beds and the brackets will help. The only, and I mean only, complaint was a given, and is a complaint with every bed option out there. Making the bed is big ole "B". Either drink wine to forget about it or add the task to their chore chart!
