I ordered 4 of these blinds to replace my old ones that let a lot of light through can caused a glare on the TV. Overall I am happy with these. They look nice and seem to be well made, they definitely block out more light. Only reason for 4 stars is one of the blinds didn't have the mounting brackets and hardware (but I was able to use a set of old brackets to hang that blind. ... show more

First, let me say that overall I'm satisfied with the blinds (they should have 3-1/2 stars) and how they look once they are installed. I hope they last and do not warp in the sun. The options for lower priced blinds are minimal, and the price on this brand is much better than other sources by quite a lot. Originally I was so frustrated that I was just going to return all 8 and find another option, but I stuck with it. In this review, I am going to point out the cons of installing these 2 inch faux wood blinds. I am giving you the complete picture of what you may have to do to install them. The manufacturer says 30 minutes to install - I easily could have accomplished this in <10 minutes per blind once my tools were assembled if I had not had to do the 3 tasks below. (I am a woman in my 70s who is stil a DYI-er.) I ordered eight blinds, for 2 different rooms. The window sizes ranged from 21 inches to 25-1/4 wide. All the blinds had the same issue with the metal boxes which are screwed to the window frame. All 16 metal boxes required that I use brute force (a hammer pounding on the “door” edge of the metal box, on a cement surface) so they could be opened or closed by hand with normal force, to secure the blind. I had tried just grasping the “door” with a vice grip to try to loosen it, but that was ineffectual. Enter the hammer. Both tools were needed for the other design flaw. Once I put up the 16 metal boxes (after returning 2 incorrectly sized blinds and waiting for replacements to arrive) most of the blinds went up really quickly. I reordered small enough that there should not have been a problem but they were still too wide. I had to replace the screws because the supplied screws had thick heads that stuck out too far to slide the blinds into the metal boxes - again, my measurements were correct but the mfr had cut the 2 blinds slighly too large for my inside mount. I did not want to return those 2 blinds a second time, so I took those 4 boxes off, found very low-profile screws to reinstall, and managed to shove the blinds in. So, now the third issue - the valances and their non-matching plastic hangers. As other reviewers have said, the shape of the machining of the channel in the particle board valance, where you “slide” the plastic hook on, has absolutely no resemblance to the shape of the back of the plastic hook. (The hooks snap onto the top of the blind once you get this step done.) I grabbed my hammer and vice grip once again. I tapped the plastic piece gently into the edge of the channel. (Make sure the plastic is right side up.) Then I cautiously grabbed the center of the plastic hook with the vice grip and shimmied - no way to slide - the plastic piece down the channel to the point where it could be snapped on to the top of the blind. This is just plain design sloppiness on the part of the manufacturer, and frustrating, knowing how easy it is to damage soft particle board. All in all, I’m happy now that the blinds are up.
