Very thin brittle plastic. I will leave it there temporarily until I can get to a store to put eyes and hands on what I am buying. The shades were broken in the box and the the other cracks happen while I was snapping the blind up into the holders

Super easy to install...normally my husband would have, but he wasn't able to today, so I took down the old blinds and I stalled these myself..super easy..and I love that to lower or raise you just pull down on the bottom of the blinds to lower or push them up to the desired height... When closed, the light through the shades appears brown. My first picture is with them slightly open, and the second is fully closed. I might have passed on these had I known this in advance, but it's not such a big issue that I'll return them. I used the inside installation and the fit is perfect. Note that this vendor does not automatically subtract 1/2 inch from the measurement, so read the listing carefully. Some vendors do and some don't which can make things confusing. To raise the blind you must push up on the bottom bar at the center and not from either end. This makes it a little awkward for me since I have furniture that sits in front of the center. I really wanted shades with a drawstring but those don't seem to be available anymore. The construction is good. The blinds hang evenly and the shading is consistent from blade to blade. ... show more
