Description

This book contains 88 designs for stained glass, all of them worthy of the serious crafter's time and effort. The styles range from medieval interlacements, through the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, up to designs with a modern feel. The level is intermediate to advanced, although the beginner, by taking extra care, can work many of the patterns. Most will easily expand for full-size panels, mirror surrounds, or other decorative work. These patterns offer suitable challenges to both the craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibilities of workers in stained glass. As a sourcebook for direct use or for inspiration, this volume will be a welcome addition to any stained glass workshop. Read more

  • Endless design possibilities
The patterns in this book are simply stunning. There are so many choices of styles, projects, and designs that it was hard to pick which ones I wanted to make first. The patterns range from simple yet elegant for the beginner to more complex highly detailed patterns for the more advanced glass artist. Ed Sibbett Jr's patterns are timeless classics that anyone can use and appreciate. Whether you want to make a simple sun catcher, a fused glass piece, or a stained glass work of art. Don't let the simplicity of some of the patterns fool you, any pattern you might choose in this book will turn out absolutely beautiful. I have only been creating glass art for a little over a year now and these patterns were easy for me to use, and I'm still perfecting my cutting and grinding skills. For the beginner I would recommend trying the smaller, simpler patterns until you are comfortable using patterns and with your glass cutting. I have even used up some of my scrap glass pieces to create some of these patterns, which is a definite plus for the hobbyist because it saves money by re-using glass so you don't have to always by more, plus it helps the environment by recycling or re-claiming materials in your glass studio. And these patterns can also be used to create kiln fused glass pieces, in glass etching, and glass paintings with glass frit or enamels, as well as stained glass panels and sun catchers, so the design possibilities are endless which is a definite plus for any glass artist! I highly recommend this book of patterns because you can never have too many patterns as a glass artist. ... show more

  • Good pattern book
There were a couple patterns that I felt were beginner friendly and popular choices, most were more “traditional” patterns (which I expected based on the cover of the book). Overall, it’s was a decent price and happy to add this to my collection of patterns. There were a few really cute flower & butterfly patterns that I want to try. ... show more

  • Good Book & Designs, Slow Shipping for Prime
I really like the designs in this book. If you need designs that are large and you can copy directly or use from the book, yes, they are a little small for that. I mean seriously the book is probably only 9x12 inches. But if you need designs to help you create good stained glass supplies then this is a great little book. My only complaint is that I ordered this last Tuesday as a Prime shipment and I did not get it until then next Monday (yesterday). ... show more
