As others have said, and as its capacity suggests, this is one HEAVY duty hand truck. Wow, built like a tank. Depending on your needs this might not be the best choice just because it is big and heavy but as a remodeling contractor this is exactly what I wanted for trucking around tool boxes, demo trash barrels, sliding glass doors, windows......... The large wheels and wide stance are capable of managing difficult terrain, to a point. Negotiating stairs with a load is more than a little tricky but you can't have everything in a unit that folds this compact when not needed. Very versatile well made tool. ... show more

We have had a lightweight, collapsible unknown brand hand truck for about 20 years. While it got the job done, we always found it difficult to open and secure for hauling and its weight capacity was limited. The design of this Dewalt collapsible hand truck has addressed all the problems we had with our earlier hand truck. First and foremost, all you need to do to open the hand truck is flip down the footplate and the wheels pop open. Then, a simple push of the button allows us to easily adjust the height of the handle. Moreover, it has a higher weight capacity. Of course, this sturdiness comes with a price – this hand truck is heavier than our old hand truck, but we do not mind. The hand truck has a nice solid feel, and it rolls easily over various surfaces including gravel. PROS • This is a nice, solid, well-built hand truck. • While it is heavy, it is also heavy-duty and can accommodate weight up to 420 pounds (190 kg). • It deploys easily by lowering the footplate which opens the wheels. • The wheels are large enough to travel over a variety of surfaces. • The handle height is easily adjusted with a push button and the handle locks securely. CONS • This is not really a “CON” but more of an observation - Because the hand truck is heavy-duty, it is a little heavier than perhaps other foldable hand trucks. ... show more

Dewalt has always made quality products. This hand truck is no exception. It is a heavy duty, foldable moving dolly. It can handle up to 420 pounds, which is pretty great for a home-based product. It is pretty heavy. It is very simple to use. You just push the button and the top pops up, and unfolds the foot plate and wheels. The wheels are solid, so you don’t have to fill them and they won’t pop or get slow leaks. I like the grippy rubber handle too. The foot plate is huge at 20x14” to help you haul whatever you need. The plate has a good wedge area where you can use your foot to tilt it. When the dolly is upright it rests on the foot plate, not the wheels so it won’t slip around—you simple tilt the dolly toward yourself to engage the wheels and use the magic of leverage to lift and move things you could not/should not lift and move with your own body. The frame is made of steel, so if treated well this hand truck should last a lifetime. Best of all, when folded this dolly has a very thin profile, making it easy to store out of the way until needed. Overall an excellent product. It would make an amazing gift! ... show more

This has come in handy so many times since I got it. I have been able to easily move things around but also put the dolly up out of the way when I am not using it! Super easy to fold down and everything collapses into a small package. The platform is solid metal so you don't have to worry about tearing it up when you're moving something. I really like this hand truck. It is very, very solid (as you would expect from Dewalt), comes completely assembled, and goes from stowed to ready to use in about 5 seconds. A couple of things that surprised me, the platform sits completely flat - the wheels are not touching the ground when it is upright. At first I thought this was odd and would make it difficult to use, but the opposite ended up being true. It changes the leverage point and makes it much, much easier to initially tilt back from upright to get it back on the wheels. Also, the action of folding the platform up for storing, swings the wheels into the storage position. Overall, the hand truck ended up being a huge upgrade to my existing one. I originally figured it would be a nice light duty one, but it is much better made than the one I've been using for 20 years and I'm very happy with it. ... show more
