Description

DeWalt DXCMV5048055 80-Gallon Two-Stage - Cast Iron - Industrial Air Compressor is a heavy-duty stationary air compressor. It utilizes its ability to deliver air at 175-PSI (Pressure Per Square Inches) to effectively power more than one air tool or device simultaneously. The expertly engineered 5.2-Horse-Power, 240-Volts electric motor is fitted with a TOPS Thermal Overload Protection System that protects the motor from Voltage fluctuations. Featuring a rugged Cast-Iron two-stage pump that is built for durability by utilizing hardened-steel disc valves, oversized taper roller bearings, splash lubrication and a expertly balanced cast iron flywheel. It has been specifically designed with a conveniently integrated control panel that includes tank and working pressure gauges, airflow regulator, two quick- connect air outlets and a pressure relief valve. The 80-Gallon ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) air receiver holds more air for longer run times on multiple air tools.

Purchased this unit to run a 1/4 air line, 3/8 inch impact line, and a 1/2 inch big-gun impact line. There isn't another unit out there that has the capability to have 3 separate air lines connected at the same time. The two smaller lines are on the front of the unit regulated by the internal knob, and I added an additional regulator and air dryer on the side for the 1/2 inch line. The larger capacity allows me to rotate a set of tires (20 lug nuts off and on) without the unit coming on. When it does come on there is a slight prestart noise that prepares you for the louder running noise, but it is still way less then my old oil-less unit. I would recommend this to any auto shop or serious garage DIY'er like myself. At over 500 lbs it is not for the faint of heart and you will need some space, but you will also be rewarded with an excellent compressor. Lastly, be sure to have a good electrician around to wire it up. I ended up have to do a complete garage rewire to support this unit in my old shop; well worth it all. ... show more

The Pro's I've had this unit for ablout 9 months now and over all i'm happy with it. It pumps fast, and even with the drain wide open it will keep about 80 lbs of pressure. I purchased this unit with the idea that I would be doing a lot of sandblasting but I have not done much of that yet. I have done some cutting and grinding with it and for impacts it is amazing. I like the fact that it is ready to go right off the pallet, the built in regulator,gauge and dual outlets are one of the main selling points for me. I have the unit set up in another building that is about 10 feet away from the 50 amp breaker box on a 30 amp breaker with 6 gauge wire for power. This thing is a beast! It's really heavy and loud as a V8 engine with glass packs. I pretty much expected this, after all it IS a big unit, not a hobby compressor. If you mount this thing in your shop you WILL need hearing protection. The Cons You will need to get or make some kind of drain extension unless you like crawling on the floor to drain everyday. I found a pre made one from another company that works pretty good with a valve at the end of it to make draining easier. I knew this unit would probably be loud but, if this were a car engine I would tear it down and put in new rod bearings. I don't know if the rod knocking is normal for this unit but that's the part I find scary. Since I cant find anyone else that has one of these units I don't have anything to compare it to. I check the fluid level every time I turn it on and it is in compliance, this noise might be normal, time will tell. ... show more

I am thinking about returning this compressor. After using for about a month, the motor and starter capacitor burnt up. My shop is virtually shut down. Dewalt WILL NOT pay for quick shipping, so who knows when replacement parts will arrive. Nothing I can do. I'm thinking I'll return it and buy from a more reputable company. ... show more
