I own a small business and do brakes and rotors a lot. After every job I do, I test drive the vehicle to ensure everything is working and feels correct. When I stopped initially the brakes and rotors made a horrible grinding noise. It was to the point I questioned if I did something wrong, but I’m very thorough. I drove and braked fast like I always do on any job afterwards. After about 1.5-2 miles everything settled in and sounded and operated normal. It’s been months now and everything still works perfectly. Not sure if they maybe had a slight coating or something that needed worn off, but it’s also not uncommon to have a little brake noise the first few miles until all the new parts seat together nicely. I just felt this was extremely excessive. I’ve also used these exact same parts on other vehicles and did not have the same noise experience. Maybe it was a fluke? But they work great. ... show more

Had no problem with the operation, installation, not missing any pieces. It came with about everything to prepare you for the installation. Only con(s) I have is one of the brake discs had a small portion of rust (refer to pic above), and one of the clips for the pads to slide on, it broke as soon as I replaced my old clips. I can't speak for longevity since I just installed but I will update in the future. The ease of install while rated a 5 isn't really a reflection of Detroit Axle because they don't really control this. Ease of install was easy regardless. When your dealership wants to replace your breaks and wants $800 to do it, it's hard to resist buying a $125 kit and doing it yourself. If you have a modicum of mechanical ability, it is not a hard job at all.
