I have 2019 Ford Explorer Platinum and was a little worried about ordering brake parts online. Well Detroit Axle brake parts for my Explorer for perfectly. I have only had them installed for a week but was really impressed. They fit like OEM equipment and currently the stopping power is great. There was only one issue, the grease for the rear brake pads had busted open on the back of the brake pad. That was no big deal. Just very glad they fit as they indicated.     • Perfect fit, with identical springs to the OEM parts.
I ordered new pads and rotors for front and back of my 2019 Explorer Limited, installed all four in a few hours. I have to give credit to Detroit Axle for supplying springs that are identical to the OEM style, so fit perfectly into the caliper bracket. I've done brake jobs on several different vehicles through the years and ordering a kit often comes with some multi-purpose or non-specific pad and spring kit that don't always fit properly into the retainer slots on the caliper bracket, so you have to mess around trying different tricks, hoping you get it right so the pads pull back from the rotor. Great product, very good price, very quick shipping (arrived a week before promised), and they ship with both a small jug of brake fluid as well as a large can of aerosol brake cleaner, so the full kit, ready to go. Will definitely shop Detroit Axle again. ... show more

Fantastic Breaks Stops on a dime! I ordered these front and rear for my 2016 Ford Explorer XLT These perform "WAY MO BETTER" than factory OEM brakes. I have the tow package on my Explorer and haul 2 Harley Ultra Classics full size baggers to bike rallys all over the country between the bikes and the trailer the extra weight is close to 4000 lbs. and these brakes stop all of it without a problem no fade no pulsating no noise. Well, where do I begin? First, not all parts were delivered with the kit. The box looked like it had gone through the ringer and had a hole in it. FedEx left it on the porch that way with some tape over the hole, but you could tell it was hammered. Next, if you don't know, there are two different models of Rotors, the big 13" and the standard 12". Everything on Amazon said it would fit, but outside of missing parts, the Rotors didn't fit. I guess you could say that is on me, but this is where the store gets good. I called and asked for a refund, they only sent one tracking number; however, I had two boxes to send back, and as everyone knows each box should have a tracking number so they can't say they didn't get it all back and charge you a re-stocking fee or some type of BS. Well, that is what took place. It took me calling and being on hold for 45 minutes, talking with Amazon, and finally, they used their A to Z team to get me the remaining $140. which, by the way, is the cost of the return shipping. Detroit Axle is a bad place to do business. They kept me on hold with CS for more than 20 minutes both times I had to call them. In the end, I told Detroit Axle I was going to get my money back, and the Amazon A to Z team did just that. PS - I even sent Detroit Axle all the proof of returning all items, and they still told me and the Amazon CS to pound sand after showing them all the evidence that they had everything.     • Noisy pads
I’m not a mechanic but I’ve done a few brake jobs Pros: They do brake. They do perform that function. Cons: They are incredibly noisy. I regreased the caliper pins and reset each of the sets of pads and rotors after the rough in period gradually became squealing every time I stopped at low speeds. This at stop and go traffic became very annoying. I contacted Detroit axle and they told me because I waited till 5 months after buying them I had to pay for shipping for new brake pads through their warranty service. I said that seems ridiculous given these brake pads seem defective given how noisy they are. They didn’t budge. I paid the shipping and they only sent me the rear pads. I called back asking why they didn’t send me a full set. They said I only filed a claim for the back pads which was not what I had asked for on the phone the week prior. I said fine please send me the front pads as well. Again they told me another shipping charge for those. After I reluctantly agreed they said sorry we don’t have those in stock. Please call back tomorrow and we will probably have them. I said can’t you file the claim and just sent them when you get them in. They said no. I have to call back tomorrow. I didn’t bother calling back. I bought some duralast elite pads and the squealing noise has gone away completely. Given the quality of the brakes and the poor customer service I will not be buying anything else from Detroit axle. ... show more

    • Great value! But check the fluid compatability.
I'm wanting to give this review 5 stars, as I think the quality is very high and the price is great. In short, the set is a great value. I withheld a star because my Explorer requires DOT4 brake fluid, and the kit cane with DOT3, a fact that I didn't notice until after I bled the first caliper. I finished installing and bleeding my rear brakes, but need to run out and get a double-sized bottle of brake fluid to re-bleed the rears and do the front. I share the responsibility, but y'all should be aware that you should check first before starting your job. ... show more
