I guess over the years this is at least the 12 ceiling light I have purchased of this exact model on Amazon. Even purchased a few different diamters. Why I like it so much: 1. Price - value. Really hard to beat at this price point for what you're getting. 2. The lamp cover is actually a really nice smokey glass. 3. Brightness, it will hold up to 2 light regular light bulbs. I find one bulb to be just be fine. I use LED bulbs. 4. Ease of installation. It comes with all the hardware needed. Depending on how you install it you might not require using some installatiion parts. Disclaimer, like all overhead ceiliing light installations, you need to take your time understanding it does require some patience. Now this is just my humble opinion, but I do hope it helps others in making an informed decision... ... show more

I bought 3 of these lights. The light comes with all the standard trimmings: screws to install, a universal support, a few wire nuts. The light is lower profile than I anticipated. Nonetheless, I was able to put 3 75 watt CFL's in the housing. The screws to mount the universal support to the electric box were a little less optimal IMO. They were a little too thin to grab my '70's junction box screw holes. Additionally, they were a little short for my liking. Having a slightly longer screw makes it easier. And finally, the shoulder on the screw isn't as big as I would like in relation to the hole size in the fixture. So I went to the garage and grabbed some better screws. I highly recommend this! highly! Just test the screws on the junction box holes, if they hold, run to lowes to buy the same size, just a half inch longer. It you have the same issue I had, up it in size and length. The holes in the fixture were a perfect match for the electrical boxes I was installing in, so I didn't use the universal support. I put my 2 screws in the junction box, as far out as possible. Then I used the wire nuts to connect the 3 wires, making sure to twist until the insulating sections of the wire were twisted. Now to mount, I use the worlds best know trick and stick a screw driver through the mounting plate and the insulation and put the tip on the screw. Then move the fixture up on the screw driver and viola placement and fastening is simple. Results are good. I had a darker than desired hallway, bedroom, and living room. I put 'bright white' CFL's in all of them. I upgraded from 60 watt equivalent to 75 watt in the hallway because it was still too dark. Now, I'm happy. The finish on the fixture is VERY weak. Even water marked it. I needed to get a lightly damp cloth to wipe down the marks from my wet hands. So after you wash your hands, dry them before moving onto the next one. Now that it's up, it looks great! If it gets scratched up while installed on the ceiling then I'll be out another $20. Cheap fixture, easy install, looks great! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. It wasn't something they taught me in school. My dad being an electrician for over 30 years had never cared to mention this to me either. Insulation usually contains fiberglass! I found that out the hard way. Fiberglass rashes are no fun. Wear goggles, gloves, and clothing that covers the body. There is no warning whatsoever in the manual but yes. There is fiberglass in the insulation pictured and it shed everywhere littering the air with fiberglass as we struggled to install. I'll mention what said struggle was in a minute however. Video shown has 1 light installed. This is a 2 light fixture however. The struggle I mainly had was the fact that there is just too much insulation? Instruction manual states a "thin" layer but there is enough insulation in this thing to be the width of my wrist. The insulation was so thick provided screws were not long enough to reach through the insulation to mount the light. There is nothing special about the box it was installed in either. So it wasn't a problem on my end. I ended up snatching screws from mainstays light fixture we bought that had too small a bracket for the box. While i don't recommend switching parts around obviously the screws were an exact match. Just longer and hence I was able to finish the job finally after yea. Getting doused in fiberglass. Other than that im not sure how this could be difficult. It's the simple instal of matching thw 2 white wires to the white, black to black, ground to ground, and capping them all. Electrical tape securing for safety if you so wish. Besides the too short screws the overall quality of the light is super nice. I got a damaged box one for about 12$ and didn't expect much but it's got a nice frosted shade and is super flush to the ceiling. Product quality is superb. ... show more

This light adds an elegance without being garish. I needed a new light for my hallway and wanted something pretty without being overwhelming; this light fit the bill. I ordered oiled bronze and when it came the rim looked black. However, when it was installed and turned on, the bronze did show. It was extremely inexpensive but looks like I could have paid more. I have been running these fixtures with standard led lights for a while now, I wasn't sure if there would be heat issues or not. These fixtures seem to be just fine, and they really provide for a well lit room without hanging down too low or casting odd shadows across the ceiling.
