I really like this umbrella. It is attractive and elegant, suitable for both men and women, and suitable for gifting. It is a strong, sturdy, well-crafted umbrella that will last if used in rain and storms with up to moderately windy conditions. I, unfortunately, broke my first one by trying to use it in a severe storm with high winds. I do not fault the maker for advertising their umbrella to be wind-proof, because the umbrella is made in the UK while I live in the USA, and I have heard that the storms here are much stronger with higher winds than they get there. ... show more

I bought two of these collapsible options to keep in mine and my wife's vehicles; I also bought a third full-size cane hook umbrella to keep at the house when a larger umbrella may be called for. Considering the price is comparable to many other umbrellas, the quality and aesthetic is an unbeatable combo. It is compact and easy to stow in the car, and the spring loaded mechanism works well; unsnap the strap holding the umbrella together, press the button and it quickly pops open to a good size for keeping 1 person dry. When you arrive, push the button again and it closes with the shaft extended. Simply press the shaft down to recharge the spring mechanism and snap the strap closed and its ready to store for the next rainy excursion. ... show more

This is absolutely the best umbrella that I have ever owned! Granted, I am the type of person who avoids buying anything that I feel to be unnecessary, which means that I haven’t bought a new umbrella for years because I didn’t mind getting a little wet to save some money. However, after moving to Wisconsin (which is much wetter than I was expecting) and starting a new job that required more traveling (particularly when it was wet), I realized that I needed to bite the bullet and get myself a true *adult* umbrella. After looking through the options available, I decided that I would go with this Balios umbrella because it had decent reviews, looked nice, was a good price, and I was intrigued about how you could close an umbrella with a button (I’ve only gotten previous umbrellas from convenience stores so they were pretty cheap). And, I have to say, I am so happy with my decision! The design of the umbrella is sleek and classic. There were a lot of color options offered for canopy, but I chose black because I’ve kept my east coast wardrobe of all black everything. I have no complaints as it contrasts well with the handle. It is also a good size, which I attempted to show in comparison to my 120-pound dog, but he wasn't having it. And, while looking nice is important, being able to open and close the umbrella at the push of a bottom is my absolute favorite part! I often have to carry multiple bags with me when I travel and commute to/from work. It is so easy to handle everything now, and, unlike my past experiences umbrellas, I don’t have to try to balance or juggle everything while using both of my hands to try to get the canopy to close. The only issue I had with my umbrella was that it sometimes took a couple of pushes of the bottom to close the canopy when I first got it. However, that issue went away after a couple uses so I think it just needed to (figuratively) stretch its legs a bit. Overall, this is a great umbrella and I highly recommend it. As long as I have this, I'll never get caught in the rain again, and I may just have to order another one for my husband so he doesn’t try to take it for himself! ... show more
