I do love these school house lights. I bought so many of them for the rebuild of house in Los Angeles. So far so good, the are hanging in many ceilings in our Spanish revival rebuild. I love the look. I am not sure how long they will last, but for the price, who care. I did also put them in a couple of old vintage bathrooms that we like that look in. I bought 2 of these for a new home build. I was looking for a farmhouse type of light for my entryway. They reminded me of lights my grandparents had in their house, and I instantly fell in love with them. First off, excuse my outdoor ceiling patch job, I have not had the time to repaint the ceiling. I had to patch around the old electrical box to make this little baby fit (which is fairly easy if you wind up with the same delema). The base is only about 5 1/2 inches across which is pretty small, so like me you may need to patch around the electrical box so nothing shows. Next, the height when installed from the ceiling to the bottom of the glass is 10" so you can get an idea for size. I am using this light to add a farmhouse vibe to my covered entryway outside the front door. Installation was easy other than the minor bump with the patch job. It's a really good value though and gives off ample light above the door at night. The base is a dark blackish oil rubbed bronze, as you can see in the pics. ... show more
