I've been using this de icer for my 200 gal horse trough and so far its working as intended. pretty impressed with how well it's managing the temp without drawing so much power. I did notice though it does need to be descaled every so often. So far a very happy customer.

This came right on time for the nasty quick freeze we had! I was able to get it hooked up quickly for my goat trough! 4/5⭐️ strictly due no temp control. Other than that it’s perfect!     • Corrosion resistant
So far, this de-icer is holding up really well. I am using it my horse trough and it is working as expected. What I really love is that it seems to be more resistant to corrosion than other de-icers I have used. We have hard water and I went through a couple of expensive de-icers in one winter. The failures seemed to be caused by mineral buildup. The coating on this de-icer is heavy duty and much easier to clean. It seems generally well made and built to last. It is supposed to be a colder than normal winter where I live so it will be in continuous use for several months. I'll update my review if I run into problems. ... show more

We used this deicer to keep our barn water barrel ice free during the winter. This allows us to have fresh water available to our animals all winter. The 9'+ cord is long enough to get into the barrel and over to the GFCI outlet for a safe connection. 500w is plenty powerful enough to keep this 45 gallon barrel thawed and the temperature control is a nice feature to help save power. ... show more

Temps have been hovering around 35 degrees the past few days and this arrived just in time. When the weather dips below freezing, it seems more than capable of keeping my chickens' water bucket from freezing over. Hopefully it lasts all winter!

I ordered this Submergible De-Icer to use in the chicken water. I've had it almost a month and we finally were able to test it, as the water started freezing overnight. We ended up trying it in the pig's water, and it works great! This one works on 5-50 gallons as long as it's totally submerged. It's very heavy duty with a 9' cord. The thermostatic control is such an indispensable feature to have on any deicer of this sort to save electricity. It turns itself on when it's needed and off when it's not. I can't imagine having a bird bath or any livestock that need watered and NOT having a De-Icer. We're so glad to add this to our tool arsenal on the farm to help make watering chores much easier. ... show more

We've had some freezing weather now where I live and so I've been able to test this. I put this in a five-gallon chicken waterer. It keeps the water inside the bucket from freezing just fine. Because the waterer I use is a gravity waterer there is an open lip at the bottom that freezes. This drop-in heater does not keep that ring thawed out so I also have to set that big waterer on top of a large round heating device as well.
