I have three of these inline. The first one I bought a couple of months ago works flawlessly. UV light is a constant 'on'. Then bought two more about a month later, and these two units both constantly 'flash' (like a rapid blinking). I've restarted them numerous times but it doesn't fix the issue.

The clarifier totally eliminated the string algae until the bulb failed after only eight months. What I'm finding is some clarifiers require a bulb nearly as expensive and the original unit. When purchasing a clarifier, determine replacement bulb costs because they seem to vary in price with different manufactures significantly. For this clarifier, this bulb is $43.47, for eight months.     • Cleared up algae bloom in three days!
I was happy to get the product much sooner than expected on my doorstep. It showed up on Saturday when I expected it on the following Tuesday! That's great service!!! The Shock Wave 18-Watt In-Line Clarifier is much larger than I realized it would be. Even though it is rated for ponds I am using it on my 44 gallon aquarium. I had just enough room to mount it on the side underneath the aquarium. Once I made sure the tubes were secured tight, I turned it on and in hours I started to notice a difference. There was plenty of sun in the room the tank sits so it had a pretty bad algae bloom in my new tank which started shortly after adding some new plants. Having a 25000 gallon Koi pond was fun, but the "Pea Soup" battle just about wore me down. I thought "UV" would be expensive, but if a products works and doesn't stress the fish, well that has to be worth something. I purchased 4 of the "SHOCKWAVE" 55 watt stainless uv clarifiers, coupled to a 9000GPH pump. After 1 week the difference was amazing, the fish were active, it did not affect the other pond residents, and I was able to return my used and unused chemicals to my local pond supply store. Cleared up a 500 gallon pond in less than three days. Crystal clear in a week. The fittings are light duty so I have a slight drip but overall after 6 weeks very happy.

    • Needs a better seal
The media could not be loaded. I used this on my above ground pool but can't get the hose connector to seal properly. I made sure not to over tighten as I have experience installing swimming pools. This tells me the craftsmanship/molding process is lacking.
