We recently moved and our new home has a small goldfish pond out back with three goldfish. The water was thick with algae so I bought an algae cube, which helped, but it's now fall so I thought I'd try this stuff. Literally went from green to clear in just a few days. Time will tell if it helps decompose the leaves, but I'm impressed thus far. HOWEVER... The smell of this stuff will literally take your breath away. I mean, I have a stronger-than-average stomach, and I can honestly say this is one of the absolute nastiest smelling things I've ever smelled in my life. After I applied the first dose to my pond, I screwed the lid back on tight and was so overwhelmed by the smell that I put the jar in a ziplock bag. It STILL smelled, so I put it inside TWO plastic grocery bags and spun them around tight. I thought that would do the trick, but I woke up the next day and my entire 1st floor reeked... even though I put the multi-layered package in my garage downstairs. So it now sits outside. We're getting close to freezing weather, so I bought a friggin' $15 (!) 2.5qt OXO POP Container here on Amazon. The dimensions on Amazon were off (the container tapers, so the jar doesn't fit in the bottom), so I need to return it, but just fair warning, y'all, that this stuff really, really smells. ... show more

I will have to say with still learning about my Koi that I am impressed with this product. I have a 3800 gallon pond with 15 Koi of varying size. I have direct sunlight into pond(Texas). I have fought algae for 2 years using Algaeflex, Simply Clear, Accuclear and off brand Natural bacteria. It got so bad this last September I over algaeflexed and lost 4 Koi. When I saw this product in late November I decided to give it a try. I dosed as prescribed. First week didn't see much difference. By the 3rd week my pond was no longer green. I am on 5th week of treatment. What a difference. My filters are basically clean. I plan to do one more weekly treatment then drop to every other week then monthly as prescribed. I am hoping the summer treatments work this well too. Either way I am very pleased. ... show more

My koi pond is in the back corner of my yard under two large Sequoia trees (read: messy). I also have several Maple and Birch trees in the backyard. A local pond store turned me on to this product years ago. It does an amazing job in breaking down the organic debris that can get into your pond from the trees. I've been using this now for around 10 years. I also use their Spring lift then the weather starts warming up. One thing to keep in mind, you will have to do a bit more frequent cleaning of your filter (I have a large waterfall filter) to remove the sediment that is produced by breaking down the organic debris in your pond. I’m not really sure if it works, I’ve seen a little difference in my water but I purchased this to get the pond ready for the winter. The Amazon delivery person actually broke the top causing it to leak. Omg the smell!!! It’s horrible! To have this leaking package in front of my door all smelly on a hot day was very disappointing. But I still managed to use it because it didn’t leak a lot of the fluid. But I’m sure my neighbors smelled this stinky stuff. I’m surprised I don’t see more reviewers complaining about the awful smell. But if it keeps my koi safe for winter I’ll be happy. But be warned this stuff smell worse that garbage. I've used this product for the past four winters. It smells like rotten eggs but it does it's job. I use it to maintain a 600-gal. pond with five hearty goldfish that winter over.
