Description

Demonfx's take on a very elusive pedal. The Precision Drive is a modern, cutting-edge overdrive pedal. Tailored towards high-gain metal players looking to tighten up their sound, the Precision Drive is built specifically to be used in conjunction with super-hot amplifiers and digital modelers. Modern Control Set The Precision Drive features two of the staple controls you'd expect to find on an overdrive - Volume and Drive. The Volume control is self- explanatory, letting you adjust the total output of the pedal, whilst the Drive increases the amount of dirt. To use it the way it is built for, keep both controls fairly low when placed in front of a high-gain amp. This will essentially "tighten" up your tone, not adding too much gain but rather flattening some unwanted loose low-end while providing more mid-range definition (punch/clarity) and giving a more saturated sound. For those technical riffs, the Precision Drive delivers all of the clarity needed to cut through in a frantic mix. The Attack control, however, is a more specific feature. Manipulating the response of the pedal, increasing the Attack will give a more immediate punch, suited for fast palm-muted chords. For extended range 7 or 8 stringed guitars, this is a key addition. The Bright control gives you even more flexibility. Adding presence to darker-sounding amps, the Bright knob delivers plenty of high-end sizzle. Taking away further low-end sag, this EQ control balances well together with the Attack. Noise Gate The built-in noise gate is one of the most thoughtful features of the pedal's design. Helps in controlling any of the crazy feedback that can occur when placing an overdrive in front of a distorted amplifier, the noise gate can really tighten up your tone. Made to control your gain without destroying the dynamic range or response, with the gate control maxed out you'll get an insanely fast cut on the feedback, eliminating it almost immediately.

  • Amazing pedal!
Bought this after watching many you tube vids on it and the real one. Arrived in a week or so. Didnt like it at first..was thinking it was a distortion pedal, and it really isn't. But, after some messing around, I discovered its power. This pedal will drive and tweak your already overdriven tone. It sounds best in front of an already driven amp. The gate works perfecrly, and the tone selection is very wide. A lot of volume, no gain, adjust tone to taste and enjoy it !! ... show more

  • Sounds good.
Sounds good ,boosts any amp into high gain territory, only thing is it is rather noisy but a good noise killer clears it right up.

  • Better than the horizon precision drive in my opinion has a better gate
The noise gate in this product is better than the one that comes in the horizon it's a great pedal worth the money

  • Not a subpar knock off
So I used to own the fantastic Horizon Devices Precision Drive and was worried this was just going to be a subpar knockoff but no. It feels like a legit copy of it. It looks practically the same and it sounds and feels extremely similar to how I remember the OG sounding and feeling. Can't confirm if it's a part for part carbon copy but I can say my metal tone is boosted and tight and noise gated af. Also, I wasn't having the same 'noise' issues others were reportedly having. Maybe they had defective units but mine seems to be fine. All in all, rather happy with it. ... show more

  • Not fully functional
Works as a booster, full volume no gain. If you try to turn up the gain it’s unusable. Just tons of noise and no tone coming through.

  • More than your typical tube screamer
I bought this pedal and the 66 boost. I played around with this to dial it in with my 5150 iconic head. This blew me away. I was thinking of a typical overdrive but this pedal is so much more. You have so many options on how to dial in the perfect tone. It pushes your dirty amp through the roof and it's clear and solid if you know what your doing. This pedal is what I've been looking for as I'm a high gain gear head. Don't sleep on this. Buy it it's the best pedal I've ever bought. I use this with a gate, EQ, and the 66 boost all demonfx ... show more

  • It's an affordable option
I don't own the more expensive version, so I can't compare the two. I can say, that I have expensive drives, and cheap drives. If you have the money, go for the real deal in as many cases as possible. But, if you are testing the type of drive, or are on a tight budget....this will work fine. You can get some really tight riffs, or more saturated gain structure. It has a gate, and plenty of gain. It will probably depend on your other gear and style of playing as to whether it is for you...but that is true of every overdrive. It's definitely worth the money, and if you don't like it return it or sell it. Or give it to a kid that plays and needs gear. It's a good pedal for the money, though they should really rethink their packaging and presentation...it's too close to the one it's made to emulate. ... show more

  • too noisy
gonna return mine. it sounds great, but i cant take the annoying hum and static it makes. idk maybe i got a bad one and i even tested the pedal solo and then just the pedal and my noise gate and still. again, maybe i got a dud but aside from that it does sound good.
