  • Excellent product. Pedal is INDISCERNABLE from the original in every way but logo and 1 LED color.
This King of Drive pedal is every bit as high quality-built as the original, it sounds IDENTICAL to the original in every setting, and offers all of the same exact features and flexibility. It is a true clone in every sense, barring the graphics and the left side LED color. It's obvious that the technicians who spec'd and built this pedal cared a great deal about getting every last component inside and outside correct and faithful to the genuine article, which is why it sounds as fantastic as the genuine article. I have been playing guitar for 41 years, I have high quality point-to-point boutique tube amps and I have accumulated lots of pedals. There is nothing about this pedal that indicates it is cheaply-made, and nothing makes me suspect I have been ripped off. It lacks for nothing, it is worth every dollar, and it is an excellent alternative to gigging your original Analog Man King of Tone (why I bought it), which would be a huge expensive risk now that the genuine articles have become highly prized, extremely sought-after and incredibly valuable. My advice is ignore and disregard any naysayers - this clone is fantastic and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I had to. ... show more

  • Um...Love it
So this thing does what it claims. It has enough growl to make you think 'Bluesbreaker' instead of Dumble. I haven't been this pleased with a pedal since I ran across the Blues Crab. The dip switches work as advertised, the internal treble pots work as advertised. I ended up with On Off On Off on the dip switches even though I have the left side set for Clean with my guitar at 6-7. Rolling up to 10 gives me Carlton-like slight tube-like front-end crunch, very controlable. Right side is full overdrive. Tone shaping is as you'd expect...all knobs respond well to minimal movement. It's just really fun to play with. So, your milage is going to be different, but you just can't tell about a pedal until you bring it home and introduce it to your parents. I've rejected LOTS of girls...er...pedals, in my time. But this is a keeper....now where is that engagment ring I've been saving...? ... show more

  • Quit working after 6 months of light use
UPDATED: At first, loved this pedal as you can see from my review below. Used it on my board for about 6 months and it wasn't even my main drive pedal. Still sort of works. But about 50-60% of the time when I engage the pedal, it shuts off entirely and completely shuts down the sound of my entire rig so it is no longer on the board. Contacted the seller and got nowhere. I also purchased a dual gun from the same company since my initial thoughts on this pedal were so high and I still have nothing but good things to say about that one. Love it in every way. So, I've been shaking things up a bit on my board. I mostly play at church on Sundays so I needed a "transparent" lower gain pedal that stacks well. Everything I read for the style of music recommends a King of Tone pedal. I looked that up and I'd have to wait like 4 years for that, don't know who has time for that I probably wouldn't even remember it when it shows up. I've never owned a king of tone pedal before and I can't compare it to the original, though there are a few videos on YouTube that do, but after setting the dip switches and adjusting the internal treble pots to the factory settings, I couldn't be happier. This King of Drive pedal does a great clean boost on the boost side, that sounds magical on my AC15 and the second stage overdrive will get me where I need to be when the song is kicked up a bit. Works great with single coils or humbuckers. Humbuckers will obviously get you more grit, as will the dip switches in the back if you need it. If you're looking for a metal zone, this isn't going to get you there alone. Seems as quiet as any other pedals I've had. I've owned many drive pedals over the years, and this thing is well worth the $72 I spent for it and I don't see it leaving my board as long as it works. I sold a Wampler to make room for it on the board and bought this and the Dual Gun Demonfx makes for what I sold it for. Get a much wider range of tones with these than I ever did with the Wampler at a fraction of the cost. Can't speak to the longevity of the pedal as I've not owned it very long but I haven't seen anything that would suggest it won't hold up. I don't stand on my pedalboard or wear boots so I don't think I'll have any issues. Switches seem good so far, no loud pops when engaged or disengaged. I'm now on a quest to build quality tones on the cheap. In my opinion, there are some cheap pedals out there that sound cheap and there are some cheap pedals out that sound great. This one sounds great. Looking forward to the Dual Gun when it arrives today! ... show more

  • Former owner of Analogman King of Tone
I waited over two years to get my KOT pedal about 3 years go. When I got it, I loved the pedal, but couldn't justify keeping it for how much it was selling for. I didn't plan to sell it, and thought to do a quick flip wasn't the original idea to get the pedal, but it's what I end up doing after a few months of owning it. This pedal casing and knobs feel like the original, and sounds pretty close 75-80% close once dialed in. An A/B comparison might draw some differences, but just like any other pedal, you can dial it in to sound good. It doesn't dial to exact settings I like on my original KOT pedal, but some knob turning got me in the ballpark where I liked it. BE SURE you go on the Demon-fx website to download the owners manual. The 4 dip switches and 2 other switches for each channel make a WORLD of difference in how this pedal sounds. Overall this is money well spent, and dollar for dollar 80% as good as the original it was cloned after. ... show more

  • My new favorite overdrive.
This is my new favorite OD. Lots of tonal range. Can make an overly dark amp/pickup combo sparkle a little. Lots of fun. I don't have the patience to wait for a KOT and the used market is stupid so this is it for me.

  • Get one while you can!
I'm over 40 so "boomer pedals" are my jam. This one is going to get somebody sued so buy one before they're gone. It's just like the real deal.

  • Itโ€™s affordable for a reason.
Decent build quality with okay tone. The dip switches and hi/lo gain switches offer a respectable amount of versatility. Itโ€™s a fun pedal and gives you some of what the original offers but itโ€™s a distant second to the real thing.
