  • Installed on a Craftsman 113, had a few issues
Style: Fence System
Fence only was more than the fence/ safety switch combo by $40. Guess which one I bought? I'll use the switch eventually. My table saw is an aluminum top Craftsman 113 from 1982 with steel side extensions. I got the fence installed and it works OK but I ran into a couple of issues. First the box it came in looked like it got run over by the truck that delivered it. All the Styrofoam was broken. There were several scratches on the parts which was disappointing. After a close inspection and a long discussion with my wife I decided to go ahead with it. In retrospect buying from a big box store would have got me one in pristine condition but for more money. Next the steel extensions had L brackets held in by carriage style bolts that would have force the fence out from the table about 1/16" in the front and rear. I wound up removing the bolts and welding the brackets in. Third the riving knife on my saw is attached to a rod that extends out the back of the saw. The rod is also part of the heeling adjustment and there are 2 screw in the back that lock it down. So I had to cut a notch in the rear bracket to fit around that stuff. Fourth I think I might of had 2 screws that lined up with existing holes (slots actually for the old fence). I wound up drilling a lot of holes in the saw but it may have been easier to drill the brackets. Right side of the kerf to the zero line on the fence needs to be 5 3/8" and to locate the first hole in the front took a little bit of measuring. They provide a metal template to set the height of the rails. I clamped the template onto a block of wood so it would support itself. I used my homemade scissor jack out feed table to support one end and another scissor jack on saw horses for the other end to get it in position, then clamped it and center punched the hole locations. That made a three handed job a lot easier. Placement of the rear rail is more forgiving, you only need to make sure that the fence can be fully used on both right and left of the blade. I got the fence dialed in but the cam handle seems very tight when locking it down. Unfortunately the adjustment for that is also the parallelism adjustment and there ain't much there to begin with. I am going to wait a while and see if the nylon glides break in a little. If they don't I might consider opening up the holes in the front rail. ... show more

  • A good upgrade
Style: Fence System
Sturdy product and giving me perfect cuts. I installed this on a 50's Delta Rockwell 34-600 saw with a 22 inch table depth. I had to make adapter rails in order to be able to screw the fence rails to my table top. I made another plastic block to accommodate my shorter table. I made a new pointer for the ruler because the one that came with it is too far above the scale for accuracy. After my mods it works pretty good. Some of the portable contractor saws have more clever ways to adjust the fence like a fine tuning adjustment knob. I wish this had that, I just bump it gradually to my number. Overall not a bad purchase for the money. ... show more

  • Solid fence for older Delta contractor saw
Style: Fence System
I have an older 10" delta contractor saw and needed a new fence because the original aluminum fence cracked (poor design). The new fence installed in 30 minutes and works as expected. It isn't a precise fence...due to minor play and flex...but it is certainly good enough for rough or quick cuts. Probably too imprecise for pro-level cabinet makers, yet it will work for many DIY homeowners. ... show more

  • Another Craftsman contractor saw upgrade
Style: Fence System
Same as many reviewers, I had to drill new holes to mount the rails. Once installed, very pleased with this fence. Simple to adjust and accurate.

  • Good product, lousy packaging
Style: Fence System
As you can see from the photos, the packaging design is horrible. Absolutely no protection given by the EPS foam, it’s no wonder so many reviews mention damage to the product on arrival. Fortunately my fence system arrived undamaged with only a few scratches and rub marks. Initial installation was straight forward on my Delta 34-444 contractor saw and the instruction are pretty well written. The angle for the front and back support are very close to the same appearance and should be identified for easier installation. The install fixture for the rails was a big help. Initial install took about 25 minutes. The real headache come with the final adjustment. The fence is totally out of adjustment as received. It is obvious that there is no QC for adjustment. On my fence, one side of the parallel adjustment was almost screwed all the way out while the other was all the way in and the perpendicular adjustment screws were also way out to the point where the fence could not be locked in place. Yeah, it was that bad. My advice is; before installing the fence for the first time, back off all adjustment screws to have a known starting point then set the perpendicular first then work on the parallel, making a coarse adjustment per the instructions aligning the fence to slot visually then fine tuning. Overall, it took about 2 hours to get everything installed and set up After getting everything set up I’m happy with the fence. ... show more
