  • Amazing touchscreen, fast and no software issues for me Amazing touchscreen, fast and no software issues for me
I am switching back from Apple’s IOS ,my MacBook Pro 2012 has had more and more issues and the line is now incredibly expensive compared to Microsoft based software laptops .It’s going to take awhile but I backed up everything on Microsoft One Drive because of Samsung Note 10 DeX (which I can finally use with my own OC) so between that and always using Google the switch isn’t that drastic. Setup and software updates have been a breeze,I used the facial recognition system and it is fairly amazing,it works in very low light and almost instantaneously. The webcam is spectacular, finally a useable cam with very high quality picture for Zoom and other online meetings. I am not much of a gamer but the very large Microsoft Flight Simulator runs prefect and using Gamepass was a breeze. For a work computer it’s a great dual use system and the touchscreen is extremely responsive without any issues. The touchscreen almost doesn’t show fing or smug marks as much as older touchscreens I seen. Not sure what magic is working but using the computer after awhile I almost completely abandoned using touchpad,it’s in a very comfortable spot and doesn’t get in the way if you don’t use it. The screen resolution is excellent and works great in well lit areas without much glare. Streaming entertainment is seamless, never had any issues, the sound is absolutely amazing for a laptop. One of the only issues is the unit feels a bit too heavy with the very large screen and it’s portable but much more of a workstation laptop, battery life is really dependent on what you are doing but I never had any issues using a couple of programs simultaneously, the screen is definitely the main battery eater . Overall an amazing computer and very well built and easy to use ,as for Microsoft 11 it’s definitely a good system but it’s going to take me awhile to get used to,unfortunately all the issues I have with Microsoft universe are still there in some areas.Sometimes both Apple and Microsoft seem to be putting out less capabilities over time ,but the Dell system and hardware is now just as good or better at a much much lower price than Apple that this device is well worth switching over. ... show more

  • 3rd party junk
I have had dell computers for years but have never had this much trouble buying one or 2 or even 3 laptops from Amazon like I have in the past month. I got one from another seller only to get a totally different dell than what was advertised which I will leave a review on that sellers page when I get done with this review. Okay let's start this review. I got this laptop the other day and thought this is going to be much better than the last one but it started off bad first thing when I opened the shipping box and noticed damage to the box that laptop was in but when I opened the laptop box and took out laptop saw no apparent damage to laptop. But when I opened the lid the laptop started booting up without without me pressing the power button bad sign. So I still went ahead and went through the set up process. Everything went okay until I started the windows updates that's when Everything went wrong. Screen started flashing on and off and wouldn't let me do anything, couldn't open any apps, go online or even restart the laptop. This piece of junk flashed on and off for 24 hours straight. Back to Amazon it goes and am buying one straight from manufacturer DELL. No more buying from 3rd party sellers. I don't know what has happened with Amazon and 3rd party vendors as I have bought thousands of dollars from Amazon over the years and never had so many issues as I have had with laptops in just a little over a month. If it cost over a thousand dollars I will from now on buy direct from manufacturer not Amazon. ... show more

  • Buena Laptop
... show more

  • Would be 4 stars if I was sent a functional computer
Overall, this machine does what I need it to for work however, it does occasionally struggle with heavier tasks. However, this is not an issue I have frequently. The biggest issue with this computer is, despite being brand new, it was sent to me with a defective motherboard (machine did not even turn on) and since replacements are not supported directly through amazon, I had to call Dell's warranty support to get it sorted out. This cost me a significant amount of time, and the only reason why this does not have a one star from me is because the customer provided by Dell was superb, but incredible customer service does not make up for unacceptable quality control standards. ... show more

  • A desktop PC on your lap
This laptop is huge, and it has huge power. The 17" 4K OLED touchscreen is gorgeous. Absolutely stunning. I do a lot of Photoshop and this screen is a huge help. The color accuracy is scary good. The first thing you'll notice is the weight. It's a big laptop. The battery is 99 watts and it can hold a decent charge. If I'm doing normal work type stuff, the battery can do about 4 hours roughly. I keep my brightness up a little higher than most because it's easier on my eyes. As far as power - this is a screamer. It has the latest gen I9, DDR5 memory, and a nice Samsung 980 gen 4 SSD. Adding a second gen4 SSD was kind of a pain. The bottom of the laptop is tough to get off. You'll need a special screwdriver, and I highly recommend some guitar pick style prying tool. This thing tears through everything I've thrown its way. It can even do some gaming, but this is not a gaming rig. It can also run quite hot depending on the load. I frequently use this with my desktop setup that included a DAC, keyboard, mouse, and a 49" monitor that I connect via USB-C to digital port. It can handily drive this setup for day-to-day use and the fan doesn't run all the time. I've played with power settings and I find that setting it to 'Best Power Efficiency' in the Power and Battery setting. The one thing that doestn't perform well is VR, and that's to be expected from a basic laptop class 3060. Skyrim VR ran okay. I had to put the settings at medium to get a consistent frame rate. I also tried No Man's Sky as a curiosity. As expected, it seriously chugged. The frame rate was so bad it made me dizzy. This is not a gaming laptop, but if you want to play some games like the latest Pathfinder or Civ VI, this works great. Overall, this is a truly amazing piece of hardware. It costs as much as an older second-hand car, but if you are a creator, this thing is made for you. I've been using this every day for the last three weeks and it has basically replaced my old desktop because it can run circles around my old PC. ... show more

  • Absolute BEAST of a laptop (READ if you have battery life problems..)
This is a crazy laptop - it's certainly the most powerful laptop I've ever used (and I've used a bunch, including the newest Macs, etc). But, like nearly all electronic devices, just being super powerful doesn't necessarily mean it's right for you. So is it? Well that depends on what you want to do with your laptop... From a pure performance standpoint, this a screamer. While there are more powerful dedicated gaming GPUs for mobile, the RTX 3060 is no slouch. And paired with the amazing 12th Gen Core i9-12900HK (with 20 - yes 20 - simultaneous threads) you get a ton of productivity power on the go and solid gaming. I would say this is more a productivity laptop than pure gaming, but it's a good balance and looks far less out of place in an office environment than most of those "gaming" monsters. When running full bore, the laptop does actually get a bit hot / thermal throttle the CPU because the Core i9 just produces so much heat. In my Windows power settings, I changed it to run in in "Best Power Efficiency" in the power mode and it not only upped my battery life, but also actually increased benchmarks because it wasn't throttling any more. Given the heat and that the fan intakes are on the bottom of the laptop, this actually works best sitting on a desk or other hard surface so it can get fresh air in. And that's ok because this is a sizeable laptop - while still thin at less than an inch and lighter than SOME (the AC adapter is also fairly light) at a bit under 5lbs, the screen alone is going to make it a big laptop - and not really a road warrior, but more of a "go between places you sit" sort of device. Speaking of the screen, it's absolutely gorgeous with great brightness, HUGE size, beyond 4k resolution and brilliant colors. The tiny bezels make it really stand out. Speakers are also good, with good range, clarity and volume. You CAN upgrade the RAM and storage - there's a second M.2 NVMe slot that's empty and I put a 2TB SSD in there and it works perfectly. The RAM is dual channel out of the gate, and both sticks can be swapped for up to 64GB total (2x32GB) of DDR5. Opening the laptop to do this requires 9 TORX screws and a bit of prying, then removing the battery to get to the M.2 screws (if you want to add/change an SSD). There are video guides out there for how to do this. NOTE: If you're having very short battery life when NOT gaming (on the order of maybe 2 hours or so), you've likely run into an issue with Windows 11 and dual graphics - basically, I found that Windows 11 was always keeping the RTX 3060 powered up - which uses over 20W at IDLE - even when I wasn't doing anything that would require it. The built-in Iris XE graphics in the Core i9 can EASILY handle all of your desktop needs, video playback, etc. with a much lower power usage. To solve this, I went into the Windows settings - System -> Display -> Graphics and told Windows to use "Power Saving" with all my common non-gaming/non-3D apps. I also went into the nVidia control panel and told it to prefer integrated graphics. This dropped my power usage at idle from ~30W to in the ~7-8W range and my common usage power from ~35W to ~15W which nets me now more in the 4-5 hours on battery range. Still not great and probably more tweaking I could do (limiting the CPU power perhaps) but it's good for me. And it didn't drop my gaming performance at all since it's still using the GPU there (though good luck gaming on battery for more than a couple hours - it is still a powerful CPU and powerful GPU and big 4k screen). A few other nits I'd change if I could. The keyboard and touchpad are nice, but certainly could be improved - some competing keyboards are better as in they're more "crisp" feeling and enable a higher typing speed, but it will get you by. The touchpad is HUGE, but that means that you sometimes have to be careful where you put your hands/off hand when typing or otherwise using the PC. The webcam is "ok" but nothing to write home about - a side effect of having to stick it in a tiny bezel. Having 4 Thunderbolt ports is awesome, especially since they're all full function including power in. That said, I'd trade 1-2 of them for onboard USB-A and HDMI - the laptop is already thick enough for it and it would eliminate the need for many dongles. The dongles are cheap and easy to use, but it's just another thing to carry around. None of these are enough to remove a star, but worth noting nonetheless. So that's about it - if you're in the market for a desktop replacement (really a desktop you can pick up and carry with you when you want) and don't mind paying accordingly, then this is a great option to consider. While there are better dedicated gaming laptops, the combination here is great for both productivity and gaming without that "gamer aesthetic." Certainly worth a look! (And consider the settings tweaks I mention above for maximum performance!) ... show more
