  • Surprisingly small
Set: Core i7|1 TB|16 GB
Very well built, fast, and light weight. Coudn't make the digital sensor work, but doing fine with windows hello.

  • Beautiful, well built and expensive
Set: Core i7|1 TB|16 GB
I got this with top specifications and expected a performance burst compared to my still well-functioning 9 yrs old Sony Vaio Z laptop. That burst isn't that obvious though in daily mundane tasks. I however like my XPS and I believe it is the best Windows laptop for 2018. I would like it even more if it would have at least one USB-A port considering how finicky Thunderbolt 3 ports are and a headache most of us have with now must-have Thunderbolt 3 docks. ... show more

  • Great Quality in a, Small Laptop
Set: Core i7|1 TB|16 GB
Really a great laptop, if you can live with the size. Meaning the text will be tiny so you do need good eyesight. Weight is good. Might be useful on an airplane, but I prefer a larger convertible or 2-in-1 laptop for that. A tablet fits better when the seat in front of you reclines. Screen on this is outstanding. Speed is good. And it's nice to look at. ... show more

  • Say "no" to J-Tech Digital
Set: Core i7|1 TB|16 GB
My wife has the exact same model purchased from another seller and it has performed beautifully. That's why we got this model for my son headed to college. The only problem is I purchased with J-Tech Digital. The hard-drive started failing 4 months in and was completely shot by month 9. I contacted J-Tech who told me to follow up with Dell directly. I did but it turns out the laptop was out of Dell's 1 year warranty one full month before I even purchased it from J-Tech. Initially, J-Tech thought it would be good to blame the problem on my son. After many emails and complaining, they agreed to replace the hard drive. We shipped it out and it was returned with exact same problem still not fixed. Shocking? Yes. Even more shocking is the fact that they wouldn't continue to troubleshoot the problem and try to help because their one year warranty had expired around the same time they were working on it. I am totally beside myself. I would caution all buyers of J-Tech products to be extremely wary and, should something go wrong or fail, expect to be sorely disappointed by some remarkably poor service and competence. ... show more

  • It's a good machine.
Set: Core i7|1 TB|16 GB
Overall the machine does very well. The screen is as good as any I have seen on a laptop. I don't do games or use a touch screen so I have no thoughts about them. I run rather large Excel spreadsheets with big calculations and this machine handles the spreadsheets nicely. It's a good machine.

  • Battery Went Bad
Set: Core i7|1 TB|16 GB
I bought this laptop as I was going into college. It has been about a year and a half now and it is giving me some issues. The battery on my laptop is now completely fried and the computer won't turn on unless it is plugged in. This occurred out of NOWHERE, I was just sitting in the library studying and then the light under the trackpad started flashing orange then when I unplugged my computer it instantly died. This was sad considering the laptop was only about a year and a half old and I took very good care of it. I never left it plugged in constantly or anything similar that would damage the battery. Prior to this battery failure, the charge would only last about 3-4 hours. I had bought the smaller 13.3" version in hopes of getting a better battery life but I was never impressed with the battery. As far as good things go, the computer does look great and the touchscreen works flawlessly although I never utilize it. Overall I would say this computer is too expensive for what you get but it is still a good computer. If mine hadn't had the issues with the battery I would have been much happier with my purchase. Once I get the battery replaced I will probably get rid of it for a much cheaper and reliable alternative. ... show more

  • Had issues at first but Dell has been improving via updates
Set: Core i7|1 TB|16 GB
Likes: - Touch screen in such a small form factor, small bezel looks great - Good hardware build overall, keyboard is pleasant to type on - Strong performance on battery Dislikes: - First unit received had a loud fan and I had to return it, lots of posts about fan problems. Second unit is better but it still has some fan noise. - Had charging problems, was later fixed by a BIOS update, shows production/testing issues - Wifi is slow, I would expect faster wireless AC, by default the driver had a setting that rendered 2.4 ghz invisible, connecting to hotel wifi or any other 2.4 ghz connection did not work until I figured this out. ** Performance fixed via updates but took time to troubleshoot - Power management, laptop is much slower on battery - Windows compatibility, lots of screen size issues and speed issues in Chrome Search Dell XPS 9730 and any of the key words from my issue list and you will find posts from XPS users. I picked this computer expecting top end reliability and support. It is getting better with updates, however troubleshooting problems has wasted a fair bit of my time. ... show more

  • I'm very happy with this machine
Set: Core i7|1 TB|16 GB
I work as a software engineer and tend to use my computer between 10-12 hours per day. I've had many laptop over the years and I have to admit that this one is by far the best. The machine is extremely fast, slick and has a very decent battery life -- in my experience about 4 hours off the cord. I run Ubuntu 18.04 on it and apart from having to fix one setting in the BIOS for the installer to recognize the disk it installed with zero problems. ... show more
