  • Nice replacement for a 12 year old Dell.
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7 265 (... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
So my original plan was to pick up some parts and build my mom a new desktop PC as her old Haswell-era Dell was pretty outdated and was going to have issues with Windows 11. Mom doesn't need anything spectacular, but she tends to keep her computers for a long time, so I didn't want to go too low end. I was originally planning on doing an AM5 build with a Ryzen 7 7900X or 8700G, mid-range B650/B650-E mobo, 32GB RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD, cheapish case, and a ~600W PSU in case this computer would ever get fitted with a discrete GPU. I thought that a price ceiling of $800 would get me there using all new parts. Unfortunately, I just couldn't quite get everything for that price ( I ended up at over $950). Also considered a similar i7 build which was a little cheaper, but still a bit over $800. But then I found this Dell desktop for sale on Prime Day. For the price, the specs looked good; Arrow lake i7, 32GB RAM, and 1TB NVMe. for around $770. That's not a bad deal at all, and you'd be hard pressed to build yourself one for that amount of money. You get the tower itself, which isn't really what I'd call full-sized, a cheap chicklet keyboard, and a cheap/very light mouse. There isn't too much in the way of pre-installed shovelware. But there are some McAfee products that you'll probably want to uninstall right off the bad. The RAM is a single 32GB stick which surprised me, and you get an OEM spec NVMe SSD. There is an open slot for another stick of RAM, but no expansion options for another M.2 SSD. There is a SATA port so presumably you could add another SATA SSD if you wanted to. The stock NVMe SSD is one of those really short ones like you would find in a Steam deck, but it should be able use the longer/more common M.2. SSDs if you ever wanted to swap it out. The stock PSU is a measly 180 watts and only bronze rated at that, so a discrete GPU is going to be a big ask here. And as you may have guessed it's not a standard ATX PSU nor does the motherboard have the standard ATX power connectors. With that said, there are apparently some specific aftermarket PSUs that are compatible with this case and motherboard, and you can supposedly get up to a 460 watt PSU if you look hard enough. That would be enough PSU for a discrete GPU with around a 200-250-ish watt TDP. So something like an RTX 5060 ti or RX 9060 XT would be doable with a PSU upgrade. But you'd also have to make sure the card could physically fit because the case used here isn't exactly spacious, and you'd probably want to throw in an extra intake and exhaust fan while you're at it. Right out of the box though, this isn't an ideal gaming computer at all. The potential is there with the afore mentioned PSU upgrade, but there are probably better options if you're into gaming. But for everyday use this thing is absolutely fine, it's quiet, boots up quickly, and is very snappy in typical use. I was able to get it up and running within minutes. For the price I got it for on Prime day, I really can't complain. It's not a computer that I would buy for myself, but for my mom who just needs something reliable and easy to use, you really can't go wrong. ... show more

  • Linux-Friendly Desktop!
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7 265 (... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
The very first thing I did was overwrite Windows 11 with Debian Linux Cinnamon. Wow! What a great computer! Debian install was a breeze and it runs flawlessly. Wifi and bluetooth worked right from the start. And the speed of this machine will blow you away! Compact and stylish tower with just enough USB ports to get started on your way to smooth office desktop work. (Not intended to be a gaming machine). Gotta love it! ... show more

  • For the price I couldn't pass it up
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7 265 (... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
This is a great computer. I haven't had any problems with it. It worked great out of the box. It's fast and I like the solid state drive. It's quiet I don't even hear it run. It's much smaller than my old pc. I would definitely buy again.

  • Seems OK
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7 265 (... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
As the box came with a fist sized hole in it, I'm taking off a point until I can be sure there is no damage. Otherwise, it seems OK. This ETC is a very basic desktop computer with limited features compared to my previous XPS models - but it is cheaper than an XPS. It has fewer cable connections and no sound port. However, the display port along with the one HDMI port makes a two monitor setup work smoothly - but you need to buy a Display/HDMI cable. I'm trying a usb sound port (extra purchase). Overall, it seems like a good value. ... show more

  • Solid choice for a basic computer
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 5-225 p... memory_size: 16 GB Size: 512GB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
This computer replaced an 11 year old Dell Windows 10. I don’t need anything “fancy” or even very powerful since it’s for home use and not anything like gaming. Mostly spreadsheets and word processing along with internet usage. It has enough speed and memory for many users. I’m not a techie, but know enough to set it up. It was fairly straightforward to set up and the process went smoothly. I already had an account with Microsoft which helped. At first I was disappointed about lack of an audio port, but plugged my speakers (with subwoofer) into the headphone jack on the front and was quite satisfactory. ... show more

  • Decent compact desktop
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7 265 (... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
Very capable computer. Handles normal tasks such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc. rapidly. Very easy to replace my old desktop. The lack of a sound card and internal optical drive kept it from getting a 5-star rating. Would recommend!
