  • Nice replacement for a 12 year old Dell.
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7-265 p... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
So my original plan was to pick up some parts and build my mom a new desktop PC as her old Haswell-era Dell was pretty outdated and was going to have issues with Windows 11. Mom doesn't need anything spectacular, but she tends to keep her computers for a long time, so I didn't want to go too low end. I was originally planning on doing an AM5 build with a Ryzen 7 7900X or 8700G, mid-range B650/B650-E mobo, 32GB RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD, cheapish case, and a ~600W PSU in case this computer would ever get fitted with a discrete GPU. I thought that a price ceiling of $800 would get me there using all new parts. Unfortunately, I just couldn't quite get everything for that price ( I ended up at over $950). Also considered a similar i7 build which was a little cheaper, but still a bit over $800. But then I found this Dell desktop for sale on Prime Day. For the price, the specs looked good; Arrow lake i7, 32GB RAM, and 1TB NVMe. for around $770. That's not a bad deal at all, and you'd be hard pressed to build yourself one for that amount of money. You get the tower itself, which isn't really what I'd call full-sized, a cheap chicklet keyboard, and a cheap/very light mouse. There isn't too much in the way of pre-installed shovelware. But there are some McAfee products that you'll probably want to uninstall right off the bad. The RAM is a single 32GB stick which surprised me, and you get an OEM spec NVMe SSD. There is an open slot for another stick of RAM, but no expansion options for another M.2 SSD. There is a SATA port so presumably you could add another SATA SSD if you wanted to. The stock NVMe SSD is one of those really short ones like you would find in a Steam deck, but it should be able use the longer/more common M.2. SSDs if you ever wanted to swap it out. The stock PSU is a measly 180 watts and only bronze rated at that, so a discrete GPU is going to be a big ask here. And as you may have guessed it's not a standard ATX PSU nor does the motherboard have the standard ATX power connectors. With that said, there are apparently some specific aftermarket PSUs that are compatible with this case and motherboard, and you can supposedly get up to a 460 watt PSU if you look hard enough. That would be enough PSU for a discrete GPU with around a 200-250-ish watt TDP. So something like an RTX 5060 ti or RX 9060 XT would be doable with a PSU upgrade. But you'd also have to make sure the card could physically fit because the case used here isn't exactly spacious, and you'd probably want to throw in an extra intake and exhaust fan while you're at it. Right out of the box though, this isn't an ideal gaming computer at all. The potential is there with the afore mentioned PSU upgrade, but there are probably better options if you're into gaming. But for everyday use this thing is absolutely fine, it's quiet, boots up quickly, and is very snappy in typical use. I was able to get it up and running within minutes. For the price I got it for on Prime day, I really can't complain. It's not a computer that I would buy for myself, but for my mom who just needs something reliable and easy to use, you really can't go wrong. ... show more

  • Great work horse!
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7-265 p... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
Dell has been my go to for decades. I picked up this Dell Desktop for business and home use, replacing a Dell All In One that was 4+ years old and just wasn't keeping up, especially on current Windows updates. I am amazed at the speed, the response and just how quiet it is. I'm using a Samsung 32 Odyssey monitor and sound bar. Amazing. I have pushed the norm with multiple tabs open, working on docs, photos, I just can't say enough. I highly recommend. For this price point and what you receive, it's a no brainer! ... show more

So far works great. FYI if u run duel monitors you may need a display cable to HDMI. Sufficient ports for most users. Setup was as expected. Price was seemingly better.

  • Great general use desktop computer
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7-265 p... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
An excellent value. This computer has a powerful processor and enough memory to run any combination of productivity apps. It does not have a discreet graphics card, but the onboard graphics do a great job with my 34 inch wide screen monitor. Setup is easy and it will spend an hour or so in the first couple of weeks making sure that everything is fully up to date. I considered a mini PC but this has full desktop power and cooling to avoid the compromised that come with the smaller form factor. ... show more

  • My setup experience.
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7-265 p... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
Super fast system in a compact design. A few notes from my setup experience: 1) No monitor cables are included. My two "old" Dell displays use a DVI connection. I needed to purchase a Display Port and HDMI cables with a DVI connector. 2) Front 1/8" audio jack does not support recording. I installed a Creative Sound Blaster Z SE, and the improvement in sound quality is outstanding. 3) Added external storage. I plugged in a SanDisk 1TB Extreme Pro Portable SSD to the front USB 3.0 port—quick, easy, and works great. 4) Added wireless mouse and keyboard. Total price w/upgrades: $1,240. It was well worth it! ... show more

  • Very Good PC for Gaming if upgraded correctly
processor_description: Intel Core Ultra 7-265 p... memory_size: 32 GB Size: 1TB Style: Intel UHD Graphics
If you're buying this for modern gaming, you'll have to upgrade the PSU. The PSU upgrade for this PC is Model #: HU460EBS-00 (460 Watts) and it's around $100. Everything is very quiet. I paired the PC with an RTX 5060 (8 GB). It runs every game I have at over 100 fps with Max Settings and 1080p. The 5060 is mainly a 1080p GPU. Monster Hunter World. Fortnite. Horizon Zero Dawn. Final Fantasy VII Remake. Granblue Fantasy Relink. The GPU is huge but fits. With the PSU and GPU inside, there is only about 1cm of space between them. That is not enough for me so I have the PSU sitting outside the case to give the GPU 4 inches of air intake instead of 1 cm which reduced amount of heat generated and increased airflow to GPU. I also installed multiple small fans inside for air circulation, one at the bottom for the GPU air intake and then two at the top for the exhaust from the CPU and GPU. The PC comes with a plastic exhaust for the CPU to direct air to the outside, but I removed that to install the fans instead. I use external HDDs for music/movie and document files and an external SSD for gaming files. The PC has all the connections needed for those external devices. I didn't have to deal with internal circuits with my external devices. The Audio jack in the front. ... show more
