  • A Refurb Favorite That Still Earns Its Keep
Style: 32 GB | 1 TB SSD
The OptiPlex 7050 Micro turns out to be a surprisingly capable little lab box, especially when you throw Linux on it and let it breathe. The i7-6700T may be older, but paired with 32GB of RAM, it handles Docker stacks, lightweight VMs, home-lab services, and general experimentation without breaking a sweat. For a machine roughly the size of a sandwich, it’s shockingly stable under continuous workloads—something you notice when it’s been running for days without a hiccup or thermal complaint. In practice, it makes an excellent “utility node” for the kind of mixed tasks labs tend to accumulate: small containers, automation tools, monitoring agents, or a handful of personal services. And yes—it even runs a Minecraft server just fine. The kids don’t care that the CPU launched during the Obama administration; they care that it doesn’t lag when someone decides to dump 12 stacks of TNT. The SSD and RAM make the whole setup feel modern, and Linux has no trouble with the hardware, meaning you spend your time deploying things—not troubleshooting drivers. Limitations are predictable and manageable: no GPU means anything graphics-heavy is off the table, and CPU-bound workloads will eventually remind you this isn’t a workstation-class chip. But for a quiet, low-power lab machine that sits on a shelf and just handles whatever odd job you give it, the 7050 Micro punches well above its weight. It’s one of those “why didn’t we repurpose these sooner?” machines—cheap to source, easy to maintain, and perfect for homelab and testing environments. Pros • Handles Linux, Docker, and small services extremely well • 32GB RAM = plenty of headroom for containers and light VMs • Quiet, low power, and stable under long uptimes • Great for kid-friendly game servers (Minecraft, Valheim Lite, etc.) • Inexpensive and plentiful on the refurb market Cons • Skylake CPU will bottleneck heavy multi-container or CI workloads • No dedicated GPU limits certain lab scenarios • Limited storage expansion (one M.2 slot) • Not suitable for large databases or high-throughput services ... show more

  • Great buy!
Style: 32 GB | 1 TB SSD
Came in a nice box with a new keyboard and mouse. The power supply is also new (90 watts), and I had no problem with the computer operating at 3.4ghz. Comes with windows 11 pro pre installed, key is activated so it's all legit. I plugged it in and it turned on immediately I just had to log in to my Microsoft account and everything populated on my desktop with all my preferences. WiFi is a mini dongle and works great. So far it's a 5 star. Will update if needed. ... show more

  • Decent Workstation with Upgrade Possibilities
Style: i5-7500 8GB-512GB
A decent little PC with plenty of opportunities for upgrading. I should note - I am running Linux Mint on this machine, not Windows 10 or 11. I feel like I get better performance with a Linux distro than I do Windows. I dropped in 32 GB of DDR4 memory into the machine after purchasing it. I also swapped drive out for an SSD 1TB drive. There are two expansion slots on the motherboard. I purchased a form factor GPU, the AMD Radeon RX 550 4GB, to give me some gaming options. Its not perfect - obviously not going to run the newest games at the highest quality, but I was pleasantly surprised at the large variety of games I can run under proton on Steam. BG3 did open and run at 30 FPS at low to medium settings. Not perfect, but anything older than that should run great. Skyrim, Fallout, City Skylines, Palworld, etc. all run smoothly with no issues. For the last expansion slot, I purchased an NVME to PCI card to attach an extra SSD 1TB Drive, giving me some extra storage. The issues I did have... there is a dead USB port on the back of the machine. Its the one right next to the Ethernet Port. Not a huge deal if that was the only thing broken, just a little frustrating. Was dead under Windows 10 and Linux Mint after I replaced the OS, so I don't think it was a driver issue. There are not many SATA ports on the main board. I think there is only one (I might need to go back and look), so if you want to expand, you will need to get a Sata expansion card or a NVME to PCI card like I did. All and all, I've been using this as a daily driver now for about half a year. Wanted to put it through its paces before leaving a review. If you are on a budget and don't mind doing a little bit of upgrading, this is a nice little PC. It runs extremely well under Linux and I can see this thing lasting a while with enough care. ... show more

  • Very Satisfied
Style: 32 GB | 1 TB SSD
Windows 11 doesn't recognize my monitor, which I assume is a Windows thing. Otherwise, this is a great "bang for the buck" deal.

  • No power for mini 7050 pc
Style: 32 GB | 1 TB SSD
I bought my omniplex 7050 mini pc I tried to plug in the power supply the plug was too large. I then tried a 90 watt and a 130 watt charger. The plugs were all too large. I like the specs but can't use my pc. What to do?

  • Definitely worth it depending on your use case
Style: 32 GB | 1 TB SSD
This actually came with a better version of the cpu listed instead of the 6700T it was the 6700 with a base clock speed of 3.2 ghz. Everything else was spot on with the description couldn’t be happier with this listing. Amazing picking this up for $200 works perfect for hosting game servers or just home servers if you upgraded the storage. ... show more

  • No internal WiFi or BT
Style: 32 GB | 1 TB SSD
Dell 7050 micro PC seems okay but I was dismayed (and somewhat disgusted) that neither of the 2 that I purchased have internal WiFi OR Bluetooth. These at least have a plug-in WiFi dongle without an antenna but 7050s that have internal WiFi also have an antenna. Other sellers of this model's units have smaller hard drives but have both internal WiFi AND BT. Suggest you look at other sellers if you need either of these functions! ... show more
