  • Great tower computer!
I bought this tower computer to replace my old tower that was slow and wouldn't upgrade to Windows 11. I love it! I do a LOT of MS Word editing work with LARGE document files and a LOT of video editing. I made certain that this computer has 64Gb of memory and a 2Tb hard drive. It's fast and I don't get any buffering messages. The standard keyboard and mouse are total junk, so I bought a high quality lighted keyboard, mouse and mouse pad. The computer itself is a high quality Dell, which I've used for many years before I retired. This is a great computer! ... show more

  • Buyer Beware Before You Buy
I ordered this Dell OptiPlex 7020 Tower desktop to replace my aging Dell desktop. Overall, it's a quiet and fast PC but there are a few things you need to be aware of before you buy it. First, my old computer has a DVD R/W drive that I used to make videos of our trips. This Dell OptiPlex Tower 7020 also has a DVD R/W drive, but it will not read or write Blu-ray DVDs. This was disappointing to me because all the DVDs I burn are Blu-ray. Second, this computer comes with just a 2TB SSD drive with Windows 11. If you need additional storage, be aware that additional drives will need to be SSD drives. There is a place to install SSD drives, but there is no place to install internal Hard Drives. The Dell OptiPlex Tower 7020 can connect to Wi-Fi, but it is not built in. It comes with a USB adaptor. It also does not have Bluetooth. If you need Bluetooth, you will need to buy an adaptor. Overall, it's a good computer. The online description for it needs to be clarified. ... show more

  • Dell warranty issues when purchasing from this seller.
Exercise caution when purchasing. Dell Support indicated Dell could offer no support for this Dell pc due to the seller also unable to transfer any warranty to my name.

  • Fast, and quite.
Needed to upgrade 7 year old box and this was what my tech recommended. So far (just two weeks in) it has worked wonderfully. We use it in a share enviorment, and that has dramatically improved. The significant amount of connectivity has been helpful. The one plug for speakers works, but the jury is still out if this will provide the level of sound quality I had on my old machine. I love the smaller form factor, also the box is extremely quite (which is nice) and the disk busy light is helpful when you are not sure if thinks are moving forward. Great box I highly recommend ... show more

  • Desktop computing made frustrating
I had to wait a few days after a grueling effort to configure this Dell OptiPlex so my review didn't seem unusually angry. First, some desktops no longer have an optical drive. This model had an optical reader at extra cost. Otherwise, there's no way to read those old CD's DVD's without an external drive or a move to USB or cloud-based software (which is where the big money players want to force us to go). My old DELL brand external DVD drive would not connect to the new box. No joy there. The OptiPlex does not have an HDMI nor a VGA out either, so a new cable with a new connection was required to get the monitor working. The new monitors only pair up with yet another cable end configuration (looks like a half of an HDMI connector). The little USB Wi-Fi "adapter" sent along with the Dell immediately sputtered and failed. I finally took it out of the USB slot and it was hot to the touch. So another method to connect to Wi-Fi was required. All in all, the Dell seems usable, although Windows 10 on my old Dell with an Intel i3 processor was not upgradeable to Windows 11 but serves us still. Windows 11, which comes loaded on the Dell OptiPlex with a core I7 processor offers little new to the operation of the system that I can tell. In fact it doesn't offer age-old and very useful accessories such as WordPad, and mostly just re arranges the elements of Windows which of course is ever more invasive from a commercial-nag perspective. (After this experience, my next desktop will likely be an Apple, if the industry doesn't entirely strangle itself between now and then.) The configuration of this OptiPlex did not go smoothly. The back up and restore method did not work. I cannot imagine anyone unfamiliar with personal computing at an MS DOS level trying to migrate from one system to another. After three days and lots of restarts, updates, printer updates, driver updates, Wi-Fi configurations both hard and soft, and realizing that some Microsoft software will not run on new MS Operating systems (goodbye backward compatibility) I finally got the box configured and placed into service in our home office. My hope is that Microsoft will stop abandoning its own products forcing massive equipment to end up in landfills along with huge time and expense requirements to keep a device updated. As the cell phone becomes ever more ubiquitous, I'm thinking old tech type people will eventually abandon the PC entirely. As far as the Dell product sent to me, except for the totally cheap wired keyboard and mouse (we've collected boxes of these over the years) and the cheesy and troubled Wi-Fi adapter, I think this Dell might work for us. It's fast, the SSD based system of data storage is a very positive direction, and with 2 terabytes of storage we might be good until Microsoft decides to shake us down again. Dell gets 4 stars, Microsoft 11 gets 3 stars, and the cheesy adapter, keyboard and mouse gets no stars. Good luck. ... show more
