    • Computer stopped working after Windows Update
My son saved up his money to buy a computer and this was the one that was in his budget and had decent reviews. Upon first boot up it was incredibly slow, likely due to the 8gb of ram, so we planned to upgrade that. Once we were loaded into windows we began to install an old CD rom game I had (Age of Empires). It finished installing but then wouldn't load the game, instead throwing a "log in as an admin" pop up. To be clear, I was logged in as the owner and admin of the computer. The made me think perhaps there were OS updates needed, which in fact there were. A "critical Windows OS" update to be exact, so i'm not sure how old the image is on the computer. I clicked to install, Windows went through the install process but stalled at 100% and a please wait screen. We left it overnight to be patient but 12 hours later nothing had changed. I hard booted the computer, got the Windows icon, but then a blue screen and a "Please Wait screen again. A few hours later and I have lost hope for this one without a fresh install of Windows. I did try Amazon tech support via chat, but there was no option for this kind of troubleshooting and it re-directed me to return. I really appreciate Amazon refurbished products and have had great luck in the past with ipads, however this experience was not good. I will be sitting down to shop for a different option with my son now. Unfortunate he has to wait even longer after all of his hard work saving his money.
