    • A like-new laptop for a good price - but battery dead within months
I was a bit leery after reading the reviews, but decided to pull the trigger on the Latitude 7480 anyway, as it as a reputation as a no-nonsense workhorse. I'm glad I did. I have better computers, but I needed one for my kitchen/living room that is mostly used for the internet, and a small amount of work when I'm out of my office (I'm a web developer). Gaming rigs these are NOT. Some of the reviews here are pretty bad, but it appears like there are different merchants selling these. I must have gotten a good one. This machine - for being near 5 years old - is like factory new. Absolutely mint. I do have one issue to note, even though it didn't affect me, and I get the impression a few of the bad reviews might be because of this: The BIOS needs a quick setup prior to use. No problem for me, but some people who aren't computer savvy might skip that step, and yes, you will have problems if you do. Otherwise, if you need a cheap, lightweight, workhorse of a laptop, I highly recommend this. ~edit - just a few months in, the battery is dead. Apparently this is an issue with these refurbs. Not the end of the world, but 2 stars are gone. ... show more

    • As-new for one-third the price
First thing's first; a business-class notebook for less than the price of box store garbage is a no-brainer. Second, Dell often refurbs their lease returns and sells them in bulk to authorized resellers... like Amazon. So you're essentially getting a rebuilt Dell that was actually rebuilt by Dell. The 7480 I received was as-new with a clean install of Win10. No utilities or bloatware. About an hour's worth of driver and firmware updates and a MS Office product key got me rolling.
