  • FAST! POWERFUL! CHEAP! NICE!
Exactly as advertised. Excellent hardware. Worst part is MicroSoft Windows 10, which is horrible operating system (not seller's fault). I immediately upgraded to Linux, and this machine flies! Fastest computer I ever owned. Best price available on the internet at time of purchase.

  • Overall, A Good Computer at a Reasonable Price
This unit is all that is advertised. It is fast and has a considerably smaller footprint than the nearly 10-year old Dell that it replaced. I have three slightly negative comments, though. 1) the DVD drive is vertical and is awkward to load as a result. If the computer were out in the open, that wouldn't be a problem, but mine sits inside a desk cubby hole and loading the drive has to be done by feel rather than sight. 2) there are four USB ports in the rear, two in the front. A couple more ports in the rear would be useful for those who have a number of peripherals and prefer not to have cables permanently running to the front ports. 3) there is no Windows recovery partition on the hard drive. I need to make my own, which isn't a problem, just something to do that I keep forgetting. On the positive side, in addition to the speed and relatively small footprint, the unit is also exceptionally quiet. ... show more

Its ok. Lots of money for not much computer. Runs slow; my other older computers hooked to the same provider run much faster. Sometimes my kindle goes faster. It works but I would not buy again.

  • Pretty sweet machine
I installed for a friend who has never really had a decent computer. Though the included keyboard and mouse are cheap (we used his older/better ones), the computer itself runs fast and smooth and quiet. One big deal was that he already had a gift from a friend of a long used, free, huge TV monitor, showing some pixel fatigue - faint burned in shadows visible slightly on blank screens. It looked very mediocre running on the old computer and old graphics card. Once the new Dell was up and running it was like a miracle. Suddenly the tired old monitor looked like HD TV! Very nice display and operation with the Inspiron. Actually I just bought a fine Viewsonic 28" 4K monitor and I am jealous of his old Dell TV monitor running on the Inspiron, which is 1/5th the cost of my Studio XPS 9100 system I paid over $2400 for 6 years ago (w/o monitor). The only irritant was with Windows 10 (which I really like generally). It took forever to download upgrades before I could start using the Inspiron. I would have thought Dell would ship with latest Windows w/o a need to wait 1.5 hours for download/installation just of upgrades. ... show more

  • A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
I bought this computer in August, 2016. Had repeated trouble with the operating system. In October I reached Dell "customer service." They looked up my purchase and stated I had concierge service until July, 2017. They then helped me clean out some of the bugs and said to call back if needed. In January, 2017 it would not reboot after installing a DELL UPDATE. I contacted Dell and they were able to do a diagnostics which said it was not a hardware problem. They then refused to go further without payment! They insisted there was no concierge service despite telling them of what THEIR REP told me just months ago. They could care less that a DELL UPDATE is what triggered the problem. They said they only cover the hardware, not the operating system which makes it function and are not responsible for failures directly associated with their own updates. So, I am waiting for the next failure and will be out of luck. DELL DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THE OPERATING SYSTEM, WILL NOT PROVIDE SERVICE SAYING THEY COVER ONLY HARDWARE AND WILL NOT GET THIS SYSTEM BACK TO RUNNING UNLESS THEY ARE PAID...DESPITE THE ONE YEAR WARRANTY. DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER IF THIS BOTHERS YOU! DEAL ONLY WITH COMPANIES THAT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. ... show more

  • Major problems with WIFI and DVD/CD player. Not a great bargain, but a great headache
UpDate: Six months later, after a factory replacement of the wifi component and reinstall of drivers, the wifi is still not working. I have resorted to a second vendor's wifi card, and it STILL does not work. These is something seriously wrong with the architecture/operating system interface. AVOID THIS COMPUTER! Although the Inspiron i3650 is a compact form, relatively powerful desktop, it has a number of problems. I have been using mine for 3 months. In that time, the DVD/CD drive has died. According to my techs, Dell used a drive meant for laptops; but this one is installed vertically, so it jams, constantly. The Windows 10 installation is a pain. Mine is missing screens commonly shown in on-line discussions about repairs. Most importantly, it is missing the screens that allow you to fix the disastrous WIFI. The WIFI on this machine is seriously flawed -- it has a range of about 10 feet. See on-line discussions as [...]. I would not buy this machine again. ... show more

  • Great computer
Computer came on time and worked out of the box. Loaded and installed all my programs and data in under a day. With 1 TB hard drive I can work off the drive and use the 6 TB server as a backup as intended. My computer is set to and does backup new data or programs with in an hour. Comparable to computers at twice the price. ... show more

  • Good value for the money
Good value for the money. I plugged it in and it booted up right away. This is my 3rd Dell computer. If it last as long as the one it replaced I will be happy. The only negative I have with the machine is the DVD drive is a little fragile and it is a little difficult to use but it works ok.
