  • A Very Solid 2-in-1 Laptop - Perfect for those college bound!
Style: 64GB DDR5 RAM | 2TB SSD
A very solid 2-in-1 14" laptop that has lots of features, is well designed and won't slam your wallet too hard. I bought the version with 64GB RAM and a 2TB SSD - it was on sale during Prime day for just under 9 Benjamins. The RAM it came with was a pair of installed sticks of 32GB ADATA DDR5 5600MHZ which was a very nice surprise. (So no off-brand or sub-standard memory.) The SSD was a little disappointing in that while it was 2TB, it's an older Gen 3 PCIe Western Digital Green M350 SSD. While still a good name brand/reputable, it isn't going to be as fast as a Gen 4 PCIe SSD that the laptop is capable of supporting. So only a max of around 3000 MB/s vs 7000+ MB/s that a Gen 4 SSD would provide. Still, it will probably sip less power and run cooler than a Gen 4 SSD and it is still way better than a really slow off-brand SSD that some vendors slap in. Came with Win 11 Pro as expected, but with Office 2019 pre-installed, so not the latest Office 365. (I actually prefer it over the subscription based Office products Microsoft tries to shovel out!) I'm happy with this purchase. The laptop came with the accessory bundle - nothing exceptional there, but still nice to have some of the included extras like the external USB drive (1TB, but really slow at 10-20 MB/s), an external USB powered CD/DVD drive, and a mouse. The mouse is no better than a $5 one though. As to complaints, yes, as some reviews have stated, the screen could be brighter, but as long as you aren't trying to use it outside in bright sunlight, it is just fine. Overall I consider this laptop a very good value for what it delivers. Really nice 2-in-1 design so it can be used in tablet mode as well with the touch screen. ... show more

  • This computer has turned out to be a huge disappointment
Style: 64GB DDR5 RAM | 2TB SSD
This computer has turned out to be a huge disappointment. From the beginning, I’ve had to restart it multiple times just to get it to function properly. It constantly shows errors when trying to run Windows, and technical support has been completely unhelpful. If I step away for even a short moment—just to get a glass of water—the device goes into sleep mode, and the only way to get it working again is by turning it off and on. It’s unbearably slow and clearly not functioning as it should. I purchased it during a promotion on Amazon, but I had no idea I was buying a broken machine. This feels like a complete waste of money. I’m deeply frustrated and wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone. ... show more

  • It's Like an XPS Lite
Style: 8GB RAM | 256GB SSD
What an amazing machine. I bought mine used from Amazon Warehouse in "Good" condition so I was really nervous about what I was going to end up with. But when the package arrived and I opened it I realized the only flaw was that the laptop didn't come in the original packaging. That's it. The machine itself was fine, not a mark on it and you literally couldn't tell it from a brand-new laptop. Performance-wise the 6-core i7 handles any programs easily. I run a lot of music production software and it's smooth. The screen is simply amazing, very colorful and sharp. Plus there's a lot of cool features, when you open the lid the laptop powers on automatically; there's a fingerprint reader built-in to the power button, and much more. As for size, it's literally the same size as a XPS 15 and has the performance to match. If you can get one of these at a decent price go for it, you won't be disappointed! ... show more

  • Excellent All-around Laptop
Style: 8GB RAM | 256GB SSD
I bought this laptop to use primarily for music production, web design / coding, light gaming (mostly steam), and, of course, general-purpose use. I also bought the laptop knowing that the memory and SSD were not sufficient for my needs, with the intent of upgrading these components. My review is written from this perspective, so the value or importance I place on certain features won't necessarily be relevant to everyone. With that said, I do feel this is an all-around good laptop that can successfully fill many roles. The process of adding additional RAM and upgrading the SSD was easy, and after doing so, I am more than satisfied with the performance of this laptop and still managed to spend (barely) less than $1,000 total. I've also benchmarked it against other laptops at or near the $1000 price point and it consistently out performs the competition. I've decided to break my review into three sections: good, neutral, and bad to discuss the things I really like about it, the things I'm indifferent about, and the things I don't really like. Here we go: Good: CPU - no doubt the star of this laptop, the intel i7-9750h is a 6-core, 12-thread 2.6ghz base clock, 4.5ghz turbo workhorse of a laptop processor. It actually out-performs the newer i7-1065g7 and i7-10510u 10th gen CPUs that are commonly found in the newest laptops. Dedicated GPU - the nvidia GTX 1050 graphics card really does perform quite well for a laptop that is not branded as a gaming laptop, I consistently get around 85 FPS. It also has 3GB of dedicated GDDR5. IPS Screen - I have a couple of nags about the screen under the neutral section, but the IPS screen does produce a vibrant, crisp picture and the thin bezel is quite nice. Light-weight - at first I wasn't completely sold on the magnesium alloy design because it felt more like plastic when compared to my previous aluminum laptop, but it quickly grew on me. It is very light weight, yet doesn't feel flimsy. Overall the built quality of this laptop is good. USB-C charging - this is really nice to have and a nice step forward in standardizing laptop charging. Back-lit keyboard - I often use my laptop in low-light environments so this is a must for me. 10-key number pad - this is nice to have and honestly impressive that they managed to include this on a smaller 15.6" design. Neutral: Battery life is around 4 - 5 hours. Not great, but not bad considering it's a 3-cell, 56wh battery driving a 6-core i7 and a GTX 1050. The battery can be upgraded to a 6-cell, 97wh battery, so that's worth consideration. Memory - it comes with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, which is not bad, but not great by today's standards, fortunately, it's in a single module with a secondary, unoccupied slot, so buying and installing an additional RAM module is easy. SSD - The SSD in this laptop is not great by today's standards either. It's not terrible, but 256gb is a bit small and the read / write speeds are nothing amazing. Of course, the importance of this completely depends on your use case. For example, I store a lot of data in cloud storage, so massive capacity is not that important to me. I also purchased the laptop with the intent to replace the SSD. No touch screen - most modern Dell laptops have touch screen, but this one does not. Screen resolution - this is kind of nitpicking, but it would be nice if this laptop supported higher screen resolutions on the internal display. The GTX 1050 is capable of outputting 4K (and greater). Touchpad - could be bigger and smoother, but it works well enough and has all the expected multi-touch features. I use a wireless mouse most of the time so I don't really care about the touchpad. Bad: No Ethernet port - I work as a network technician and often have to plug network cables into my laptop to test and troubleshoot. I have a USB-C to Ethernet adapter that works fine with the laptop, but it's just a pain to have to remember to carry it around when I need it. Cooling / Thermal - The laptop can get very hot during extended periods of performance-heavy use. ... show more

  • Excellent bang for your buck
Style: 8GB RAM | 256GB SSD
After hours of looking around, I landed on this laptop. Pretty much had everything I was looking for: Core i7 processor, 256SSD, 15.6" 1080p HD screen, thin bezel, and a Nvidia graphics card. The RAM was slightly lacking at 8gb, however I was able to buy another 8gb RAM stick to increase the memory. Adding RAM is easy on this machine. The computer is super fast, has a crisp HD screen, backlit keys, and ultra lightweight. Worth every penny, would recommend. ... show more
