My first impression is that this is an extremely good machine. Setting it up was easy, but be warned that any Windows 11 machine will take a very long time to setup while it downloads updates for Windows. It seems well built and is very fast. I haven't been able to test out the battery, but the Core 7 processor should be pretty power efficient, even though it can get up to 5.4 Ghz on the performance cores. I used to have an 11th generation i3 machine, so heat and fan noise were never noticeable, but they are prominent with this computer. The keyboard got very hot during my initial setup, and the fan was audible, but not loud or distracting. In a coffee shop it would be inaudible. I am curious to see how hot and loud it gets with just routine light internet and Office work. But heat and noise are the prices you pay for a fast processor, so I'm not dinging the machine for that. The touch screen works very well, and I like the display quality. It's very bright and I'll probably just turn it down for when I'm using the battery, unless I'm outside. Overall this is a top of the line laptop which seem suitable for my data science studies, which is why I got it. I paid $660 plus tax for a refurbished "very good" laptop, and I feel the value for my money was outstanding. My computer looks and acts brand new, so I urge you to consider the refurbished route. Be sure to download Dell Update, as it makes it much easier to keep the drivers up to date. Overall it is a great computer on the first few uses, and I will update this if that changes. Edit: I haven't run the battery dry yet, but Dell claims a 6 hour battery life with routine use, and that's what I estimate I'm getting with web surfing and word processing. The keyboard does not get hot during routine use, nor is the fan loud. I'm sure the battery will not be as impressive when doing data science tasks, but for light use it stands up very well. Edit #2: While it's a good computer, it shut off unexpectedly in the middle of my work 3 times in the first week I used it, so I returned it. I have no complaints about how this computer runs. But I do have a complaint about how hot it gets. It starts getting hot after just a few minutes. The left side of the keyboard also gets very warm. I talked to Dell support and they said there was nothing to worry about, but I find that hard to believe; it can get too hot to put it on my lap. I have a small table set up next to the couch and I have been leaving it on a cooling fan most of the time that I use the computer. ... show more

While there are some nice features, overall it is a disappointment. There are frequent problems with Windows 11, but of course, Dell Support claims those problems are Microsoft issues. However, I never had those problems with my previous computer, which was also running Windows 11. In addition, it frequently drops the BT connection to my mouse, and it sometimes will not start up until I press the startup button several times.
