Description

With Definitive Technology’s new 3XR Architecture featuring three-times the bass-radiating surface area of other 8” subs, the Descend DN8 performs like a 10” sub in an 8” driver cabinet and delivers louder and clearer lows without any unwanted port noise distortion. Outfitted with dual 8” Bass Radiators that are pressure coupled to the 8” driver and 500W peak Class D amplification that deliver massive, impactful bass with amazing speed, musicality, and control even at 34Hz. Equipped with built-in controls, easily accessible at the back panel, you can adjust volume, low pass filter and phase control (0/180°) for a personalized listening experience. Set power toggle to Auto on/off or DC control for fast and easy on/off power switching in the sub and other home theater equipment. Digitally optimized to take your movies and music to the next level, the Descend DN8 is a perfect complement to any home theater system as it allows easy connectivity via LFE or stereo line level RCA inputs (cables not included). • Bad MuthaShut yo mouf!!
Style: DN8 Black Pattern Name: Subwoofer
Shipped quickly, this was an open box unit labeled like new and it came in as described. This Subwoofer plays way way better than my 10" JBL sub. DT really did there thing with this little 8" subwoofer. I like the compact size for easy placement, but don't let the size fool you. That lil bad boy will blow your sox off! Bass is deep in movies and music, but the quality of the bass is what gets me. Bass is deep for what your getting from this 8". I'm a new Definitive Technology fan. Get it!! ... show more

  • Crisp Bass
Style: DN8 Black Pattern Name: Subwoofer
Replaced 2 Polk 12’s with 2 Descend 8’s. Although quite a bit more for each one, there’s no comparison. The base from the Descend’s hit cleaner and harder and make my system perfect.

  • Nice upgrade to the pro cinema 600
Style: DN8 Black Pattern Name: Subwoofer
Purchased as a replacement sub for my 14 year old sub that came in the def tech pro cinema 600 It’s night and day between the two subs Yes the dn8 has 2x the power and an extra Radiator vs what came with this home theater in a box, and my ears can tell the difference Kids were saying they could feel the explosion in their chest when watching iron man, they never said that before when we watched it Got it on a pre-prime day deal for 20% off msrp so it was an easy decision when I was looking to replace as it wound up being $200 cheaper than the other subs I was considering I was able to stay on brand with what I already had vs mixing it up You gotta hear it to believe it ... show more

  • Small but packs a big punch!!!
Style: DN8 Black Pattern Name: Subwoofer
Bought this to replace my old 10-inch Definitive Technology ProSub which lasted me about 20 years. Since I had a great experience with the brand (also have a Def Tech center channel speaker) I decided to try the new 8-inch sub based on the premise it sounded “bigger” than its size. Well, I’m very happy to say how accurate that description is. I have mine set up in a corner of my basement/family room so the bass is well contained in the room. Modern technology has allowed a a sub with a much smaller footprint than I had before to produce great sound for music and movies. Definitely recommend a try if replacing an older sub and/or if you’re limited on floor space for a great sounding sub. ... show more

  • Impressive performance!
Style: DN8 White Pattern Name: Subwoofer
I had already purchased the vaunted SVS 3000 Micro sub a few months before pulling the trigger on the Def Tech Descend DN 8 so I really wasn't expecting much from this sub. Boy was I wrong! I have to say, the visceral power, more importantly, the quality of sound from the DN 8 was shocking! I had initially tried the SVS 3000 Micro in my home theater system but found I could never quite dial in the sound to my liking, even with the remarkable SVS app. It always seemed overly boomy and on the verge of bottoming out during loud action scenes. I eventually took it out of my HT system and added it to my bookshelf speakers for two channel music listening where it seems much better suited. When the DN8 arrived and I added it to my HT system and dialed it in with the help of my Sony STR-ZA5000ES receiver's "Advanced Digital Cinema Auto Calibration," the system came alive. Not only did the low end visceral power return, but I couldn't get over the quality of the base. I began dialing up music on YouTube to play through the system and the DN8 did an amazing job of demonstrating its finesse, speed and textured base notes. I never heard any of the muddy base notes I experienced with the SVS in the system, just clean, fast, punchy base! I have to say this Definitive Technology DN8 is tremendous value for the money. I can only imagine how the DN10 & 12 sound! For my smallish living room the DN8 is more than enough for me. Great job Definitive Tech! ... show more

  • Compact yet musically delivers. Nice settings. With direct speaker cable inputs.
Style: DN8 Black Pattern Name: Subwoofer
I use this subwoofer to complement regular size high-end audio where speakers, Thiel CS 1.7 , have relatively limited representation of low frequency until 52Hz. The setting was easy but finding the best parameters requires manual discovery try and error for two speakers system. For surround system it would be much simple as this subwoofer has automatic feature. One of the reasons I got this subwoofer is that it has input of both LFE and standard speaker plug from amplifier. I connect the two sets of speaker cables from my mono amplifier Parasound JC1 to both Thiel CS1.7 and this subwoofer. JC1 has dual speaker output. It turned out that my environment worked best with 180 degrees of phase switch. This item has two phase settings, 0 as its default and 180 as another option. Other options include low pass filter, and in my case the lowest range fits best. Easy to change and to find the optimal point. Manual is detailed enough. A picture of manual is attached. Bass sound is concrete and relatively firm. It does not recede. Enough to enough bass structure to the extremely detailed and realistic sound stage from Thiel, making sonic stage even more colorful and vibrant. For the use cases like mine, I do believe this subwoofer works. If your audio room is large, consider a different model but for a small to mid size room with a need to add quality bass, this subwoofer is one of the most attractive choices. ... show more
