  • Good Quality, Decent Battery Life, Great RC Plane for Beginners and Advanced Pilots
Style: Thunderbirds
I recently received the DEERC F16 Thunderbirds RC Plane, and it has been an absolute hit! This RC Plane is perfect for kids and beginners, striking an ideal balance between fun, durability, and ease of use. The 6-axis gyro stabilization makes it incredibly stable in the air, even for first-time flyers, allowing smooth takeoffs and landings without frustrating crashes. I picked up the controls fairly quickly thanks to the intuitive manual and remote and beginner-friendly design. The colorful LED navigation lights are a standout feature, making the plane look awesome during evening flights and easy to spot in low-light conditions. It adds a cool factor that kids love! The build feels sturdy enough to withstand a few rough landings, which is a huge plus for young pilots still learning the ropes. Flight time is decent also, the dual battery setup gives great flight time — we got around 30+ minutes of fun before needing a recharge, keeping the fun going without long waits. Overall, I rated the DEERC F16 Thunderbirds RC Plane 5-Stars because it's a fantastic RC plane for kids and adults, and it’s affordable, reliable, and delivers hours of entertainment. I highly recommend for anyone looking to spark some aviation excitement in young beginners and even adults! ... show more

  • The best configuration of the controls, simple to fly, 2-3 times you are flying and landing
Style: Thunderbirds
This is such a great plane, it’s so fun to fly and hands down you can pretty much fly it from the start. The left stick is like the throttle , push forward to go faster, pull it back to slow down , pull it farther to slow down even more and come in for a landing. You don’t need to do more with the left than set the speed and occasionally adjust your speed if needed. Once your up to speed on take off, the flying is done all with the one right joystick. Like you envision a plane, pull back to climb higher, bank left and right, and forward to pitch the nose down. Wish the directions explained it like I am explaining it here. It finally clicked my third time flying. That left stick is the throttle, and it stays in whatever forward position you push it to, like setting the speed, it doesn’t snap back like a traditional joy stick handle. So all the way forward to take off, once you are up to speed pull back with the left to get airborne. Once you have climbed to the height you want, back the throttle down a little to level off the plane. Back the throttle off a little more to come back down and start your landing, and a little more to actually land. So that’s how you use the left stick… So, once you’re airborne, the right stick does it all. Pull back to climb, push forward to dive. You can climb or dive while going straight, left or right, all just using the right stick. The right stick snaps back to center, the left stick doesn’t. That’s helpful, and just remember if you get into a bad situation and losing control, let go of the stick and you will level off and fly straight. Left trigger will make the plane perform a back flip. You want to be at least 16 feet for that and have a little speed. At that height you will come about 5 feet from the ground. It’s super fun. This design is very nice, Air Force logos are cool, and it is very durable for foam. Makes it light weight for sure.! It’s been crashed a few times and that famous DeeRc durability is showing up like it does with the RC cars they make. ... show more

  • Great plane, but controls could be better
Style: Fighting Falcon
This is a great entry-level RC plane, with one notable quirk keeping it from being outright fantastic. I really like the design of this plane, but when the Viper is the inspiration, it's hard to go wrong. It looks great in the air. The foam is sturdy but lightweight and the soft silicone nose won't ever be damaged by a frontal impact. I was hoping to continue storing the plane in its box, which you cannot do if you glue the tail fin into place, so I flew it without glue. The tail fin stayed in place during the entire duration of my flying session. The controls are both good and bad. The good part is that they are simple. On the controller, you have two sticks to work with. The controller's left stick controls throttle and is notched so you can easily set it at a certain amount and leave it. The right stick controls the plane's attitude. Down for nose up, up for nose down, left for turn left and right for turn right. These controls map to three input channels, one for each propeller and one for the elevator flap. This configuration, combined with a seemingly twitchy gyro, makes for less-than-precise overall control. Nudging the right stick either left or right seems to give the respective propeller a pre-defined amount of throttle in a sort of surge. It seems like there might be a slight delay too. In practice, the plane still turns, but it feels a bit disconnected from what you're actually telling it to do. Another quirk I experienced was when I pressed the right stick fully up to initiate a dive. The plane takes a staircase-type path downward: dive, level out due to gyro panic, dive again, level out, dive.... Weird. I think these controls are ideal for a beginner pilot to be able to get airborne with a minimal learning curve. An experienced flyer will be left wanting more precise control. A few other notes: Battery life is great, and it comes with two for extended run time. Fly in a wide open area with no wind. This plane will quickly run out of room at your neighborhood park. For the list price, this plane seems like a good value. At the discounted price (about 35% off) that I currently see at time of writing, this plane is an incredible value. I would definitely recommend it at either price if you want to dip your toes into RC flying. If it were permanently priced at the discounted price, I would give it 5 stars, even considering the questionable controls. ... show more
