These spacers are advertised for decking. However, their 1/8" gap is somewhat narrow for deck planking, but.... These work GREAT for building deck furniture that benefits from narrower gaps between boards. Application -- redwood deck benches, coffee/beverage tables, the sky is the limit. These turned out to be invaluable in laying my new deck. I don't think without them my deck would have come out half as good. Amazingly simple idea and in the end HUGE value for money. Choosing the spacer size to order was the hardest, I found the 13/64 gave me a good spacing to allow for drainage with good visuals. In usage, I found that spacing out 4 or 5 20' boards worked the best. ... show more

Works just as you would think and makes sure the spacing between the deck boards are even. I would buy an extra pack or 2 so you can layout multiple boards at once when you get close to an edge or an angle. Doing it that way will allow you to make adjustments earlier on and save yourself a lot of work when you are already at the end. ... show more

    • Great Deck Board Spacers - Loop At Top Could Be Stronger

These deck spacers are great. Lots of varying sizes to help keep deck board gaps aligned. Easy to place and remove. The loop on top works as a great way to pull the spacers out with a claw hammer when they are gripped tight between boards. The color code for various thicknesses is very helpful. The only draw back are the loops on top. I do have to use them a fair amount to pull the spacers out and they are prone to cracking. I try to be careful, but it still happens once in a while. Strengthening up the loop would be a great change to the spacers. Well work the cost. ... show more

Worth it. Makes deck building go so much faster and consistent! ESPECIALLY if you are building it yourself (like me)! An undocumented feature is that you can also insert them part way, or us them sideways or upside down (using the thicker handle) as you need to adjust spacing to get your last boards to line up. ... show more

I recently replaced the deck boards on my 36 by 14 foot deck with composite deck boards. If you've ever installed composite you probably know there's many "rules" to follow with spacing of boards. These spacers served me well in this role. There's four of each size in the package. I primarily used one size for all top boards which worked fine even in my 14' runs as I moved the spacers with me as I went along screwing in the boards. I'm glad to have the other sizes for other projects down the road as well. I debated buying these as they seemed expensive for their use, but it made the job much easier vs making a jig. The biggest advantage is the width of the top of the spacer holds the spacer between two boards so it doesn't fall in between the boards. The "handle" at the top also makes them easy to remove and reposition as you move along the deck. Overall a smart design to solve a simple problem, and I'm always glad to support a company that's innovative! ... show more
