This joist tape itself is about 0.015" (fifteen mils, or about .39 mm) thick, so it's thick enough to provide decent cushioning, but generally not thick enough to have to take its extra thickness into account in any of your planning unless you have *really* tight tolerances. The manufacturer claims this is made of butyl rubber, and it certainly seems to be, from both its appearance and its stretchiness. We're replacing the floors as part of a remodel of our Master Bath and Bedroom, but some of the floor panels squeak against the joists when you walk on them, so while the floors are ripped up anyway, I'm going to also pull up (and maybe replace, if needed?) some of the flooring panels. But when putting them back, I'm going to make sure there's joist tape cushioning all the joints this time, to ensure silent floors in an aging house. This tape should be ideal for diving into this project in a few weeks. It's a decently heavy-duty tape, soft enough to conform, and firm enough to stay in place (I'm using it indoors, but it's generally designed for outdoor use.) The tape has a clear backing tape over the adhesive side, so it's easy to keep it clean and from sticking in the wrong place until you strip that backer off and apply it in the proper place. The adhesive seems aggressive enough to hold the tape in place well, even when wrapped over the edge of a 2-by joist. (Make sure the surface you're sticking the joist tape to is clean and dry before applying it.) Looks like pretty good stuff. I'll update this review if there's any change in my opinion once I've used it more extensively.

The tape itself is great. But the rolls aren't cut cleanly and are slightly jagged, causing the plastic backing to not pull off cleanly and continuously rip. Extremely frustrating and probably takes about 4 times as long to install. Sadly I bought 10 rolls of this tape, I only used 2 so far. Probably would be best to just throw the remaining rolls in the trash and save myself the aggravation, would never purchase this brand again.

Joist tape is key to building a deck and other construction projects when you want to protect your wood from the WET! If you are getting a project done, or doing it yourself, you should insist on it. In the Pacific Northwest, wood rots when the wood gets wet and stays wet. Two reasons for this: 1. The Pacific Northwest is wet for 3 seasons of the year and sometimes it stays wet for weeks. 2. Fir, cedar, hemlock, and other coniferous needles mix with the pollen and other cone production debris becomes a wet paste that can stay wet for months and fill any gaps in construction. This wet paste is a catalyst for wood rot and is why decks, wooden stairs and other outdoor construction has a shorter life in the PNW. JOIST TAPE, fills some of these gaps and crevices, and fights rot gives outdoor projects a better chance to live another year and more. This AMOGATO Joist Tape is thicker and stickier than most of the others and for some projects, those two factors can really make a difference and that is why I am giving AMOGATO JOIST TAPE FIVE STARS!

Short, Sweet, Simple and to the point review. This joist tape worked just as we needed it to as we installed our new back porch. Hopefully after using this during the building process of our porch, we don't run into any issues with water seepage or structural integrity issues due to water. We didn't have any kind of problems installing this tape. Unfortunately, there's not much to say about this product other than it's worked for our back porch and hopefully it is waterproof like it claims.

I am re-surfacing an existing deck. The supporting structure is 20 years old, but in fairly good shape. It's got lots of holes from prior screws/nails and some minor cracks. So I decided to use this butyl deck tape to seal off those imperfections from water infiltration. Hopefully, we'll get another 15-20 years out of this new deck. The tape is fairly easy to install. It's wide enough to cover the edge of a standard 2X6. It sticks extremely well. If it gets stuck to itself, you will never get it unstuck. The backing tape comes of fairly easily. I had a few times when the backing ripped and did not come off cleanly in one piece. It's easy to cut with a razor knife or scissors. The thickness is perfect. It will not affect any dimensional accuracy, but it's thick enough to provide lots of protection and sealing around fasteners. It stays in place well, even if you have to walk on it a little bit. Avoid sitting on it though as you'll get a sticky black residue on your pants. Overall, I was very pleased with this deck tape. Very sticky. Good size and thickness. Easy to use. Good quality and value.
