  • Broke B
Size: 5-String Style: 50-128 - Medium
Blue steel is my favorite all time Bass Strings. The tone is so bright and punchy. But, after stringing all 5 and tuning up, the low B snapped and broke at the machine head. Bummer. I put the old B back on since unstringing all 5 and returning them does not make sense.

  • Dealer Shipped the next day, whilst everyone else was shut down.
Broke a fretless base string, always use Blue Steel, best strings made. Could not find a music store that was open, couldn't find anyone who could ship Prime-time. This dealer set the order out the very next morning. Fair retail price. If you are still using nickel or even worse, tin plated strings, change to cryo-steel. I've been playing for half of a century, no string, electric, acoustic, or bass comes close to pure stainless cryo-hardened steel. Just put a set on and see what I mean. The entire range and harmonics are crystal clear, and stay that way indeffinately; just keep them clean. If you have a [locking] wammy bar, they never go out, never stretch, ever. Musicians friend, Sweetwater, no one could get the product out the door, all in shutdown mode. These guys shipped, again, the very next morning. Thank you. ... show more

  • My fave. Became hard to find for a while.
Size: 4-String Style: 2675A - Blue Steel NPS Bass XM
Favorite zingy strings. Seem to last forever without ever getting wholly dull. I play rock and blues and this MED gauge is what other manufacturers will call MED Heavy. Love the fat tone and good string tension.

  • Cool sound & feel
Size: 5-String Style: 2678A - Blue Steel NPS Bass LT
Great sounding strings. Have always used Rotosound's, (and still do on my metal setup) these have a more subtle sound, very happy with them in the studio.

  • Short lifespan
Size: 4-String Style: 2675A - Blue Steel NPS Bass XM
Lasted six months of occasional playing before "G" string broke near the tuning peg. The initial brightness dulled about as quickly as many other strings. The cryogenic aspect seems like just a gimmick.

  • bright, strong, and wonderful
Size: 5-String Style: 2678A - Blue Steel NPS Bass LT
MY favorite strings, they stay brighter longer from the cryogenic freezing, and are much stronger than other strings, but still very Flexible. The nickel plating doesnt beat up the frets.

  • Terrible choice! Went completely dead after 2 gigs
Size: 4-String Style: 2670A - Blue Steel NPS Bass XL
Bought these on a whim after using Elixirs exclusively. Terrible choice! Went completely dead after 2 gigs. Elixirs will normally last me 6 months worth of gigs and still sound great after that. I will never veer off of Elixirs again. Lesson learned!

  • Love the sound of these strings
Love the sound of these strings... punchy w/just enough fartiness. Tried GHS, Excelcer, RotoSound, D'Addario'.. the Blue Steels give me just what a wanted to hear from my bass; '71 Fender 'P' an improvement in my sound, and last me a fair while. The packaging has become a bit cheap, but doesn't seem affect the string's quality. ... show more
