I’m sure these are great on other guitars but not on my Martin Sapele back and sides, spruce top guitars. It’s rather fun experimenting with strings on my acoustics. I’m going back to Monel strings for my 11 year old original Martin Dreadnought Junior. They sound amazing. D'Addario has developed string coatings that extend the life of strings without dulling the sound to any great extent. Before these strings became available, I stayed away from coated strings. XT strings sound bright and balanced, and they do last noticeably longer than uncoated sets.

These are the best strings I've been able to find on the market. The XT 80/20 phos-Bronze 12 top / 56 bottoms gives the big low end and the bend in the high E that keeps you from breaking them. This is a good deal these strings are usually $14 a pack. These are the XT extended life strings so you get that ring out clarity for about double the length of a normal set. I don't know about you but I change my strings alot and 100% is tone related. I don't find myself having to change them as often. And they don't buzz like most coated strings do until they are broken in. Broken in on these only takes five to ten minutes and they go go go ... show more
